Was there insulation between the walleypan and intakemanifold on six pack engines cant find any info on this matter ?Did the six pack hawe the coverplate over the front of walleypan like the singelcarb engines ?
No kidding? I've only seen that insulation on late 70's big blocks & it was always soaked with oil. So, the six packs had it too, huh? I looks like a wad of fiberglass.....but from '69-early '72, I bet that stuff was asbestos fiber.Yes, there was the little insulator packet stuffed in there, that we all threw out.
Ok thanks where there a coverplate that was held by the 3 bolts that holds the waleypan ?
Wow..... never seen that happen.... how much boost/spray are you running? Geez.I can see where that insulation packet may even help take some of the flex out of the valley pan. Any one else had the pans crack in the middle?

Yup, and I recall the first time I noticed it. I was doing a tune up on a 6 pack car early 70's. While doing the dual points, I saw this wad stuck under the manifold. I'm like, what the hell is this ?No kidding? I've only seen that insulation on late 70's big blocks & it was always soaked with oil. So, the six packs had it too, huh? Wow....I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Is that a stock part????
