I have a long and complicated relationship with “the dodge”.

It was my great grandfathers car, his grandson (my uncle) inherited it the late 70s.

It was given to me for my 14th birthday in 1993 a couple years after a engine issue took it off the road.

After years of it garaged and me fantasizing, I was able overhaul the 2 barrel 383 in high school auto shop with some mild upgrades as my senior project. Had the trans and leaking calipers rebuilt, and was my daily driver it a couple years (97-99) and put about 30,000 miles on it.

Long story short; it was garaged from 1999-2008, started it every couple months and drove it around the neighborhood.

In 2008 the garage storage was lost, and moved it to a remote location in the serria foothills.

It was expected to only be there 6 months but a very difficult job, family health problems, friends dying, and a divorce later turned it into it sitting outside with car covers for 9 years.

Short term plan is just to get it running.

WElcome to the site.
Life has a tendency to get in the way of these car projects. I'm dealing with much of the same over here. Good luck.

Good luck with the 500 Big Block. Good to meet you at Spring Fling. Appropriate screen name too.

Hey Dude welcome to FBBO from SoCal. Nice project car. She’ll be sweet when you make some progress with her. It’s a nice model to have. Good luck

My 70 roadrunner been in storage untouched for almost 6 years now. Thank god I have my super bee or else the Mopar fever would be overwhelming. Sweet ride, glad to see you’re gonna get that back on the road! Awesome that it’s a vinyl top car to!

Welcome from Vegas great car I truly think its awesome you held on to it no matter what life threw at you

Welcome from central California! I have a similar story. Uncle bought it new, sold to his dad, I fantasized about it for year and finally bought it from my grandfather. Currently running, but not registered/insured.

Welcome to FBBO and sometimes months do turn to years. Good luck with your project.

Welcome from Michigan:welcome:. Great car and I hope you get that thing going.

Yeah will be putting back on at some point; also want to paint in the original medium green. My uncle painted it, but it’s coming off; original was such a nice color... dunno why he painted it; think he just wanted to.

The vinyl top started cracking while was driving it back then; I was worried about water sitting at it rusting so pulled it; kinda killed me to do it...but the alternative was worse.

Here is a pic of it just before the top came off. I was 19 or 20; seeing this picture makes me understand why people always thought I was 30 or something
