Mufflers and pipes

Many here know my stance on mufflers.....haven't bought one in over 30 years....

Mild built 383, Hedman headers with 1.75" tubes, 3" collectors, 2.5" X pipe system from Pypes, Dynomax 17219 mufflers.

Sounds great and have no drone whatsoever.
X2 on the Pypes system, first time I've used them on any car, and everyone loves the sound.

I have been looking at jones exhaust at summit for my next build. They look like stainless for about a third to a half of other stainless, but i have no personal experiencewith them. I have used HUGE pickup size flowmasters and hooker aerochambers, both 3 1/2 and liked the sound, but not enough street driving to notice drone. The motorhome size flowmasters with tailpipes to the bumper dont drone.

It still always surprises me when the muffler question comes up how few people ever mention Borla. I have used them on 5 different cars and never had one that droned. They flow better than most and hold up remarkably well. I would give them a serious look. I let someone talk me into flowmasters for my current build and they will come off sometime this summer...too much drone. I can't drive 60 minutes without having to put in ear plugs.

I run full 3 1/2'' , 12" bullet mufflers, with 1/2" spiral mufflers shoved half way inside and tack welded , dumped before the rear end. NO drone ,not overly loud, fully wrapped with used wrap (just because I had it) , and not terribly heavy.

I searched the threads and opinions are all over the map. I want mufflers with the sound we have all grown to know and love, loud doesn't bother me. There is a big following for flowmasters but just as many that hate them. One thing I don't want is that annoying drone so give me your choice and I'll weed them out. Thanks

Also, can anybody tell me what size pipes came on the 440 cars from Ma Mopar? 2 /1/4,
2 1/2?
Bill, have you looked at the Borla Crate Muffler? It has 3 levels of sound available, from a rumble to loud. There are YouTubes of Mopars with this muffler. It's something new, maybe something to consider. Here is a link comparing the 3 levels.

I'm currently running 3in exhaust with ultra flows. You can see all the way through them, yet at idle and lower rpms they are not overly loud. They roar when you're on it though, which I like... I used the super turbos previously on this car and while they sounded very good they were just too quiet for my taste, on this car anyways... I do use a Flowmaster on my 5.7 pickup and like it but IMO they don't give the classic mopar sound.
