Turquoise Engine Paint

Hey guys. Looking to dress up some of the unpainted parts as well as whatever else I can. With me keeping the engine in the car what's the best way to tackle this?

Guessing brush on would be better than a rattle can but looking for your opinions. Also any suggestions for suppliers is appreciated or if you have any leftover paint you want to get rid of.

For what you want to do and accomplish I would use Mancini rattle can, good color and coverage. Go to the paint supply house and get some wax and grease remover. Remove everything you can on the engine and clean it with the W&G remover. Start masking, aluminum foil works great to mask difficult areas.

The more you can remove from the engine will result in a cleaner job.

I had to do something similar what you want to do. Spray what you can and touch up areas with a foam brush. Foam brush holds a lot more paint and doesn’t have that “paint brush” look

2x on the foam brush. Tougher to do when painting large areas, but I spray the paint onto the foam brush, and then paint.

Just be careful because even when the brush appears to be out of paint, it just absorbed it. So if you spray it again, then paint, it'll drip everywhere once pressured. So I'd recommend using multiple brushes.

I used a soft bristle brush with the Bill Hirsch paint on 2 different engines, 1 turquoise and 1 orange ... zero brush strokes, it flows out pretty nice while curing .. I used a foam brush on the block of my 383, after half the block the foam pulled off the stick and stuck to the block ! That paint is thick !

I used por 15 engine enamel with a foam brush. It flows out very nice. I was pleased.

Thanks guys! I'm definitely going with Bill Hirsch & will brush it rather than rattle can it. Anyone have a left over quart of his paint you want to sell via Paypal?

Paint ordered! Can't wait to get this project underway! I could use some detailed pictures of a 383 that I can use as a guide of what got painted and what didn't. Also could use pictures of what color the throttle return spring was painted, if at all.
