Spring Fling Van Nuys, Ca. April 14-15,2018.

Garmin knows.

That is the "Air-Tel" in Van Nuys, CA.

I got back last night at about 7:30 with a travel time of about 6 hours.
What a great time, better than usual. I got to meet several FBBO members and I was happy to find that nobody tried to punch me in the face. I know that it may happen someday so I've been watching a few Jackie Chan movies to prepare.
I met "HoseHead". That guy....What a great voice! After reading from FBBO members for years, you sometimes are surprised by the appearance of people but that guy could do Radio work, animated voice work, etc. I wanted to be a radio DJ when I was a kid and if I had his voice, that is what I probably would have pursued.
I got to see Dart4Forte again. He was good natured about the jokes I've hurled his way. I have to compliment him....He is one of the few that has that considerate demeanor where he actually ASKS other people about themselves and their projects rather than blabbing on and on about himself.
Speaking of blabbing....Phil-A-Buster was there as always. That is what I call this guy I see there every year. I'll refrain from describing him because if I did, you'll immediately know who I am referring to. This guy seems to glide from group to group, moving in on other people's conversations to talk on and on. He knows everything, he has been everywhere and has done it all.
I met Derwud and Bladecutter. Blade was as animated and intense as he is online. Derwud was friendly and funny but I didn't get much time to get an update on his Charger project.

Several of us went to Woodland Hills Sunday morning to see a few "Other" types of cars. I expected to see some high end exotics since it was called something like "Supercar Sunday" but I saw not a single Koenigsegg, no Lamborghinis and the Porsches I saw were not that flashy. I did see a few cars that are a rare sight on the streets: Mini Cooper, A Datsun 510, A Magnum P.I. Ferrari 308 and what had to be (In my opinion) the most hideous "kit car" that I have seen in years....An "Avanti" fiberglass tribute based on a Mustang Convertible.
One of the things that makes this show a great thing is all of the social activities outside of the show. The Cruise, the Bob's Big Boy, the Air-Tel parking lot groups hanging around chatting.

Ha! Thanks for posting this Kerndog!! I'm glad you appreciate my booming voice! Hahahaha. I wish it was making me the big bucks.
Seriously though, it was great meeting you guys from up north!
Had a great time meeting you and seeing Dennis again. Hopefully next time Rich will be around. Bought some heads from him a while back. Great dude!
Also had a great time seeing my new(ish) Arizona folks. John, Mark and Brad are some damn fine folks. Always good to get to know the people we've been chatting with online all this time.
Especially when they turn out to be such fine folks.
Great show all around. I bought some little stuff and an unsilenced 68-69 air cleaner for the beater 73 d100 with 318 power! Great cars too. Hopefully next year I'll have my belvedere back together and we can all get into some trouble together. Until then, I'll be harassing ALL of you here in FBBO!

Great stories all! I wish I would've gotten time off work for this. Maybe next year...
I hear the WINE COUNTRY MOPARS did great there with best of show & several 1st's & more.
I'll get to hear all about it at the meeting Thursday.

Congrats to the club. I watched the awards. Club affiliation is not mentioned so I didn't know which winners were Wine Country.

Evidently the judges didn't know they were all from the club until they lined them up for pictures afterwards.
They couldn't believe it, 1st time in history of event I heard.

Edit: They took 6 cars and got 8 awards.

When are they going to put on a show, these "Wine Country" guys ?

When are they going to put on a show, these "Wine Country" guys ?
I'll ask about that. Thursday night was the 1st regular meeting I went to (I'd rather drive around than sit).
They are a very friendly bunch of people, not at all WHINE country like around me! About 35 showed up that evening.

They had a few shows in the early 2000s. I went to one in Petaluma and at a Winery before they held it at the Sonoma/Sears Point track.

Too bad we didn't run into each other (figuratively, not literally). We were around all Friday and Saturday, left early Sunday.
