Hello all,

I have a Holley dual inlet carb mounted on my 383. I quickly found that routing the dual fuel line assembly pointing toward the front of the engine aims it right at the distributor. Common problem, I'm sure. I reversed the direction of the fuel line assembly so it points rearward, but I am not happy with the longer run from the fuel pump all the way to the back of the engine.

It seems to me that I could either use a carb spacer, or go with one of the more expensive flex line assemblies that will allow me to clear the distributor. I'd rather not do either of these - is there anybody that makes the lines and fittings to roll your own fuel line that splits to the carb inlets?

This is a low budget engine, hence my reluctance to spend $100+ on a fancy braided steel assembly to do the job.

Thanks!

If you're on a budget, you'll need some tubing, flaring tool and a bender to make your own hard line. Look at pics of engines that others have done to get an idea how you might want to do it.

On my dual fours the gas line really gets close to the distributor so I used a braided line with AN fittings. I don't believe it was that expensive. I found what I needed at Summit.

Last time I had that issue, I believe I just bent mine up at the 90* bends below both fittings and it then cleared.

Be careful you don't kink them, though.

I have a six pack but you can see how mine routes just above the distributor

I was in the same boat. I made my own, cost me about 20 bucks. I made mine out of 3/8 aluminum fuel line and fittings from Napa.

Yup. And it won't cost a cent. You can coax that chrome dual inlet a little higher, done it a number of times. The key, not to kink. As he said.
