mid-grade, not the TTI's or Dougs......
Flowtech? Summit? Jegs?

69 RR, 383, manual steering, 4-speed....are there any out there easy to install with good fitment-no alterations?
thanks!

Not the Jegs. I had to dent out both sides to clear the torsion bars.

Howdy.
1st - No such thing as easy install on a big block Mopar.
2nd - It all depends on your price cap, ceraminc coated or painted/raw steel, and header length. I'd recommend full-length headers. Mid-length and shorties there less bang for the bucks spent.
I like Hedman. Had them on a '72 Charger. You can get a set of painted for around $300.
Next I'd look at Doug's. I like Doug's, they seem to fit a touch better than Hedman. Had them on a '71 Cuda. They are higher, close to $500 for painted.
Not much of a fan of Patriot or Flowtech.
The only reason I am not recommending Hooker is I have not personally used them. Others in this forum may have better insights for Hooker.
One thing to note, headers on B-bodies fit close to the starter and tend to shorten starter life if you don't use a heat shield.
Also, where bolts/studs go into water jackets, use studs and nuts, makes changing header gaskets less of a mess.
I plan on trying Schumacher's on my Super Bee. I have read they fit really well, but they are priced similar to TTI.
Good luck.

Thanks guys

Headers and ease of installation are usually not synonymous!

The set I’m using right now came from Summit and long tube for 400 block (will fit 383) went in pretty good had to undo steering linkage to get drivers side in and use mini starter. Other than that went ok.

:D

IF you are looking for big-tube headers (e.g. 2" or larger primary tubes) I had a set of Hooker headers that went on easy and fit well. Heddman 2" were even easier (all 4 slip tubes) BUT they had about 2"-3" less ground clearance vs. the Hookers. Hookers had one slip tube.

Really not needing 2" primaries, 1 7/8, 1 3/4 would be fine...i dont even know what a slip tube is! Lol

Back in the day, we ran Dougs headers on the hemi. A friend turned up w. 2 sets of hookers, new at the time. The hemi blew both sets of the hookers apart, we had to keep welding them up. Dougs headers were very good back then.

We just did a set of Doug's 452's on my buddy's 64 Dodge Polara with a 440 shoe horned in there. Doug's says they won't fit...we made them fit, and they fit like a glove. We did not scratch or damage them in any way. The secret is to remove the torsion bars and raise the engine, leave the plastic bags on them to only expose the head flange. A mini starter is a must! We've dealt with Hooker Comp and Super Comp, but Doug's is our pick hands down. The fit, quality, and construction is tops! The 383 B Body application is P/N 451. 1 3/4" tubes, 3" collector, and fits PB,PS, manual or auto trans (Floor shift only, will not fit column shift) They're a bit pricey, but with quality, you only buy once! I personally hate headers, I run restored factory manifolds on my 69 440 R/T, but IF I were to buy headers, I'd buy these!

Spring for TTI...you will be happy....I don't have gaskets and they do not leak....just use silicone,JMHO

So I need to buy another starter for these to fit easily? Where are those found?

My buddy used a factory newer model mini starter. My car is stock, so I'm not familiar with mini starters, but I can get more info if you need it.

where? what? to get?
it has been about 6 or 7, 8 years...I will have to check where I received the starter from...on line, not expensive...I googled mini starter or someone here gave me a line on one.....

Schumacher recommends Mopar Mini Starter #P53005984AB and says it will work with big blocks ($141 @ Summit). Never used it, don't know.
