Are the front or rear valances the same (or will they bolt up) between 72 and 73?

**From my resto:

Valances
That's the original '72 valance on the left and the one on the right is a '73 piece that I picked up NOS back in '92, I painted it in primer black and installed it on the car. It's still in excellent shape, but I'll be using the '72 (as everyone probably already knows they are different). You can see the three brackets in the middle are different between the two, the '73 does not bolt up to my '72 as the brackets are shorter. The sides will bolt up to the fender no problem

The rear valance I had to buy, thought I'd better buy one just in case they decide to stop producing them :shruggy:.

Here is some evidence of where it was painted with some kind of black paint, even have the running paint to prove it. I often see a lot of these left body colour, maybe some are?

I my opinion, the front vances are not the same, K-frame changes created larger spacing and bumpers were pushed further. good luck aligning your fenders with a 73 on a 72.

my 73 had 72 fenders on it and other than 2 bolt holes , everything else worked perfectly. vice versa , would be fine as well. outside of the wheel well size ,they are damn near identical.

Thanks. I have a 73 with a banged up valance and another member has a 72 valance available. This wont be a resto ever, just an old car to beat around in. Dont need it perfect.

fenders:
matches all around outside and inner fender but not with radiator core support. You can get a gap fitting one fender on a diff year ( can't recall wich one on what year ) and wheel will be visible when opening the hood. Splash front shied is diff too and needs to be matched with fender. Opening wheel is higher on laters ( 1 to 1.5 inch )

front valance:
valance itself matches with fenders but braces not with frame rails as you can see on pics. Also the area with bottom of radiator core suppor is a bit longer on 71/72 valances ( noticeable on pics )

rear valance:
just the bumper guards cut outs are diff but doesn't affect on mountin in any form
