Can anyone give me some insight on how to remove this yellow ignition wire? I’ve herd it’s tricky. I would like to replace it as it looks burnt and add my electric fans to it as well. Thank you

As always, disconnect the battery to be safe. The burnt end looks to have a spade connector, just pull it off of the terminal. Cannot see in the pic what the other end connector is. If not easy to remove, just splice in a new piece and connector. Use some yellow shrink sleeving to seal the splice. Nothing complicated.

The end that goes into connector is the one I want to remove. I’d rather replace the whole wire then to splice. Yes the other end just pulls off the starter relay. Thank you.

It looks like there is plenty of wire length to reach from the bulkhead connector to the starter relay if you were to cut back the burnt end and replace the terminal lug connector. As mentioned before some yellow shrink tubing over the end of the new terminal lug would make for a clean look.

The real question is "why did it burn". What is drawing that much current or is it a bad crimp heating up?

Pop the bulkhead connector, take a tiny jewellers screwdriver and while pulling on the wire pry the lock tab down on the wire spade and it will come out. You'll need a new spade to crimp onto the new wire and reinsert.

The spade you'll be pulling out is a male one, but here's a picture of a female (the connector in rear of picture) with the tab. So your screwdriver goes in the connection side to bend the tab down while pulling on the wire.

For lack of a small jeweler's screwdriver, I use a straightened packing staple to push down the tab. Just the right size...

Well here’s the story. The bee was in working condition when I bought it last year. Everything worked but I could tell it was a wiring mess. Over the winter I re wired engine bay. Here are some pics of old wiring. I was able to plice most wires because they had good connections at the bulkhead connector. The yellow ignition wire has a loose crimp and split at bulkhead connector and that’s why I want to replace it. Thank you dadsbee for that infor. Huge wind storm yesterday. Down trees/power lines. Still no power today in SnowValley, Ontario

I was able to remove wire from bulkhead. I will look for connector tomorrow. Dadsbee I live just south of you in SnowValley, Minesing, Ontario. Any idea where I can find them?
Thanks

I almost lost my hangar with that 100K wind blowing directly West against my 100' x 16' long wall + the roof. 5" out of plumb over 16' and my 40' bi fold door ended up INSIDE the door frame and jammed vs rolling up the outside wall. I had 4 x 10,000 lb ratchet straps and chains diagonal across the door and interior 3/8" cross cables up or I would have lost it. Yesterday I had to use the back hoe to pull the hangar further crooked so I could get the door unjammed!

Pretty sure I have some of the male connectors, let me look in a bit.

Just to clarify my "how to remove" post for others, as you obviously already got the connector out. The males are side loaded and you have to push the tab sideways to get them out!

I have a few connectors here if you wanna make a trip up this week to get them. Son just showed up to watch Boston go down like the Titanic, so today is out. Wayne

Wow!! I’m glad you didn’t lose the building. Winds were crazy. I was out of power until Sunday around noon. I will look around barrie this week for connectors. If I can’t find any I may take a trip up Friday. Would that work?
Cheers, Jeremy

My daughter was still out this afternoon over by Mt St Lois. Not sure if she's back on yet or not, haven't heard from her.

I'm usually here, unless I'm not! LOL Unless there's a good ignition parts place left in Barrie I doubt you'll find one, but who knows. Like I said I have some spares from my bulkhead connector kit, as I'd bought a new engine harness so didn't use the ones intended for that section.
