Hey Guys....been a while since I have asked for help....just very busy. I finally started the front and rear glass install on my 67 Charger. Purchased the gaskets from Steel Rubber last year. I had called and talked to one of their reps before the purchase to make sure of the fit because of the initial advice about fit from this forum. The installer, 30 years of glass install, would not install the front glass. He said the seal/gasket was junk due to the fit along the bottom. I remember seeing pictures of the same from guys on this site. So, any advise as to where to get a gasket that is nearly identical to the original or do I need to find an original.

Help Please

thanks

Carl

You basically limited to two different manufactures on the front windshield gasket for the 66-67 B-Body Hardtop applications, that being Steele or Precision. If you were to find an NOS gasket, it would probably be in the $400 plus range and your very lucky if you should find one. We have been selling weatherstripping for over 28 years and I have to say that typically Steele makes a very good product. But there pricing is usually twice to three times that of a Precision gasket.

I have had some customers have an issue with the Steele gaskets wanting to pucker on the A-Pillar area. Precision has only in the past three to four years had a front windshield gasket available for these cars. Granted they do not sell like the 68 to 70 B-Body application, but we have not had an issue with them to this point. For the rear window, Steele is your only option and if your going to need roof rail seals, then the Steele pieces will work much better than the others.

when I redid the glass on my 67, my glass shop/tech told me to get Precision.
He said they are/were the best. I did and no issues.

onlyone.....thank you for the tips. Got an original front gasket from my friend. spent about 30 hours cleaning it...OMG there was so much junk on it. Stretched it for a day before the install.....and a perfect install and fit. No puckers or misfits. We tried fitting the Steel Rubber gasket one last time and it was short and puckered. I will see if I can return it. Also installed the back glass. Although I had to remove all the rear interior I had already installed, the glass went in easy. I am not sure but maybe the new Steel Rubber rear gasket might also be a little small on height. The side trim did not fit as well as the front trim. I am excited as now I can get the car out on the road....but loud, no exhaust. Working on ordering a TTI 3" exhaust.

Thanks all for the help/tips/information/parts getting this car back on the road.

I hate you.
I assume it did not leak?
Did you use 3M 8509?

That back is short as well.
I had to put poly sealant on the inside when installed.
I could see daylight at the lower corners.

The guy who did the install has done this as a profession for 30 years. He is old school when it come to the old rides. The adhesive used is what he uses for older cars. I will find out what it is and post it. I worked on getting the interior back in place late today. Hopeful to have the panels in place by Friday....so I can take it down the road with the open headers...lol

picture is before glass
