My son bought a really nice 68 sport satellite with 318 2bl automatic on the column and bucket seats. Car is original except for 1 repaint. How rare is the column shift and bucket seats? He's wanting to put a 4bl and intake and find a suregrip with 3.55 to 3.73 gears. He's serving in Afghanistan right now so I'm trying to help out as much as i can.

Welcome.
Tell your son thank you for service.
How bout some pics. 68 was a good year
The fact that it's a sport satty makes it a nice find.
IIRC bucket seats may have been part if the Sport Sattelite package.

Sport Sat is cool.....but not rare as far as value...nor is the column/bucket seat option a desired option.....

That aside I love Sport Sat and wish more people keep them as such.....

Post some pics....

Welcome from Indiana. Like the 68s, need some pictures. Have some relatives in the Fairfield area.

Welcome from North Carolina. First, thank your son for his service. Second, though not rare, Sport Satellites are way cool.

Tell the son thanks for his service :thumbsup:

Welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

being a 318/2bbl auto base model, it's not all that rare
still a cool car to begin with

IMO a good well tuned 4 bbl {I like Holley's or Quickfuel tech.}
& better 4bbl dual-plane intake {like a Edelbrock RMP Air Gap} &
a free flowing gauze style air-cleaner {Like a K&N with an Xtreme top}
also some free flowing dual exhaust, {headers will help some too}
a hotter coil, hotter CEI ignition {& better/hotter ign. control Box}
& good low ohm resistance plug wires,
all those will wake it up considerably, make it really fun to drive

the 3.73:1 gears will help for stop light to stop light, accelleration

good luck & happy Moparing

Welcome from Ohio, thank your son also for his service. I don’t like ‘68’s,,, just kidding!

Welcome from another Sport Satellite owner! I bought it 18 years ago and they didn’t make Sport Satellite badges then. I opted for the GTX badges since it already had the 440. The SS package included bucket seats but not the console, so if you didn’t buy that option, you got column shift. Mine too was originally a 318 car, but the previous owner changed it out (poorly). This is what it looks like now. I upgraded the hood and 150 MPH speedo too.

Thanks everyone who have replied to this post. I will let my son know what you have said and pas the thank you for your service and blessings to him. I will have him send me some pictures to post on here. Again thanks everyone.
