hello everyone,
Quick question, which aftermarket intakes will fit under the stock ‘69 RR hood using a Holley DP and the stock RR air cleaner with the ‘383 Roadrunner engine’ stamped lid cover?
Thank you all!

Any which measure the same as stock. Old Edelbrock "H" pattern from the 60s, for example.

Wieand 8007
Holley performer (not performer RPM)

I got a Eddy TM7 with a 1 inch spacer- holley and a drop base air cleaner. This is a 440 so taller than a 383. Tight fit but it works. Dont know about the stock filter housing though.

I "thought" only the air grabber hoods were tight on clearance? Maybe you can put a fistful of clay on top the air cleaner, close the hood and see how much more clearance you have to play with.....3" clay not smoothed, you can go 3" taller on the intake, for example, vs. stock. I think you have more room than you think, even using the stock air cleaner. I believe the Holley is just a touch taller than a Carter, but I could be wrong on that....and as wagonman mentioned, his 440 is about 1" taller than your 383, so maybe you can use his setup as a reference?

383, currently have an Edelbrcok 7186 RPM Performer Intake, Holley 750 Ultra DP with a MP cast air cleaner on

Even with the slightly raised base on the air cleaner, this just clears (approx. a .25") the hood with maybe a bit of modification on the underside of the hood.
I have almost the exact same setup. Though I did add one piece to what you have. I wanted to keep the under hood insulation so I got a drop base for the Mopar air cleaner. I know it is a Ford part, but worked very well to drop mine about 1” from the underside of the hood. It still chafes ever so slightly on the insulation. I also used an Eddy Thunder AVS2. I think it is slightly shorter than the Holley, but not much.

Edit. You will likely need a banjo fitting for the fuel line on the carb or it won’t clear the drop base. I did.

I looked at that ford air cleaner setup for the drop base as well. I almost went with it but I'm now going in another direction completely.

Because of my engine build, I was going to use just this:

But I've since sent out my intake to Wilson to have it ported.

I did a lot of sizing with different air cleaner bases but eventually decided to get a new 6-pack bolt on hood form Glasstek (arriving Tuesday next week) as I'm also going to change out my MP valve cover and air cleaner setup.
It may be a tight fit but I have 440 Source fabricated valve covers and will go with this air cleaner:

I want a different look and this has a raised base (similar to the MP a/c).

The 6-pack hood should give me all I need with the carb spacer.
Will get the new valve covers, a/c and any new breathers all powder coated the same satin black.

I was considering a similar hood. I’d like to see how that turns out. Looking at the website, that looks like a good price.
