Speaker sizes for rear deck?

A 6X9 will fit. The actual moving part, the base part of the speaker, makes contact the rear deck. The same also for the odd ball 6X8 whichwill also fit. A 5X7 will will mount in and the speaker itself will be inside of the deck cut out.
Depending on the manufacturer, because there not all exactly the same when it comes to mounting holes beileve or not and why I don’t know but a slight chamferintake may be in order or a simple redrilling for a hole.
Also depending on the speaker, the mounting area can be deeper on some models or another. This is a great help because
It moves the speaker downwards helping clear the big moving woofer away from the deck.
Go to Crutchfeild and look up speaker spec’s. The speaker manufacturer should have height with depth dimensions for the speakers on the box. So this way Crutchfield should! Also have the specs listed for you if you cannot read it on the box itself on their website.
And if you don’t already know, supply the speakers with plenty of good clean power. Even if you don’t use it, it helps make the speakers shine and sound great.

That odd looking opening was for a optional rear window defogger. I don't recall 4 speaker stereo systems in 1969, so no provisions were made by Chrysler.

a defogger all the way to the drivers side near the corner? doesn't seem like a formidable spot for clearing the window....

One of the lovable idiosyncrasies of our cars along with left handed lug nuts.
defogger vent went in slot.
blower motor for defogger went in 5x8 hole.
optional rear speaker went in 6x9 hole.

There was no FM stereo in ‘69, so no need for 4spkrs. The defogger wasn’t much more than a fan to blow air over rear glass, heck ,it pulled some non-heated air from the trunk.

The standard rear speaker back then was a 5x7 on the drivers side. The 6x9 opening on the passenger side was for the rear defogger fan assembly.

I purchased 2- 4" round speakers for the factory holes in the rear deck of my 65 Coronet. That should work for me.
