Ok, I have a 68 Charger and am curious about two things. The sending unit in the car has two line outlets like it is designed for a vent tube hookup. The cars vent tube coming off the filler neck dumps down into a groove in the frame rail and just stops. It doesn't look like there are provisions to hook up to this and run it to the sending unit. Is the sending unit only supposed to have one nipple on it for the fuel feed and that's it? Is this fuel vent line on the filler neck supposed to be attached to anything, or does it dump into the frame and just vent the filler tube? Anyone have any pics of the correct setup under the car?

The tube on the Charger filler neck acts as a vent.......Plymouths have a vent but it comes off the tank underneath the car and terminates at the shock tower.....

All 440/426 sending units are typically 3/8 and 1/4 vent......So HP cars came as such...It circulates the vapor...

So you should have a 1/4 vent line from the tank to the vapor separator/filter attached to the fuel pump.....

Ahhhhh so that second smaller nipple on the sending unit is for the return line from the vapor separator....makes sense now. Its a highly modified 500cu. stroker with no vapor separator, so I will just keep that nipple capped off. If I ever have to buy a sending unit, I will buy the one with one nipple for the feed line only. I always forget about that vapor separator as most remove it and modify stuff over the years...... Thanks Justin!

Be sure the nipple cap is gasoline friendly.

i will probably throw a stub fuel hose on it with a bolt or machined steel clamped in the end of it. I can never find any rubber plugs that are worth a **** with gasoline. Unless any other recommendations.......I'll take ideas.

Yes, a bolt not threaded all the way to the head, but use a brass bolt, steel may rust or galvanized may flake.

Just grabbed some .260 tool stock about 1" long so that will work perfect jammed in the end of some 1/4" fuel line. Problem solved! Thanks all for the quick info on that dang extra nipple!

Picture inside the frame rail of filler neck vent tube exit end. Yea I have nothing else to do some days except to test new equipment.:luvplace:
