I will be doing before and after measurements. I’ll post them up. I am curious to see how worn out mine is. I also need to record it in case I need to troubleshoot later.

WOW! Now that is a scary sight! A worn pump rod like that would make me start wondering about lubrication.

A new rod standard size is 3.220".

No worries, the camshaft is good, so are all tappets.
Even de camshaft lobe for the pump rod is not damaged, last time i checked some marks were there but should survive.
If lubrication was that bad due to oil quality or so everything would have run to the ground already.
Most likely a cheap repo, i installed a NOS rod.

That is almost a quarter inch short.

Yup. New one will be in tomorrow. Thankfully, this one just popped out when I pulled the plug out. I was reading about some of them mushrooming.

Mine measured 2.967" when i removed it.
For sure that push rod caused issues!
What new rod did you buy?
I got the Howard push rod recommended (Part number 92152) but best (they say) is NOS as they are properly hardened and survive longest.

I took a measurement prior to installing of the length, note it down and drive the car for 50-100 miles and check again.
If it has worn again a quite substantial amount there is either more damage, or the push rod is not hard enough.
Keep checking Ebay or so for a NOS push rod, good to have in stock
Edit: I've said this before, just replace it on a yearly basis if wear is found, can't go wrong for $20-25.

Now why the hell would you want to do that?
Same for me (starts at 5 psi then drops as engine is hot to close to 0 on the gauge) but thought from something I read that the liquid filled fuel pressure gauges will not show accurate pressure as temperatures change.
