Members,
I came across a 1970 Superbird (440-4, Manual Trans) - Second Owner. After inspecting the car, all the numbers match. In fact, it still has the original tires. However, the engine has been rebuilt and the car is in need of a paint job. With these limited facts, what do you guys estimate is the current market value. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Scott

Body needs no work and has had none?

Probably at least $125k

What Color is it?

As others have noted.. no pics, no idea. Even then it's strictly a what the buyer will pay car. I know, I just walked around one 20 times in the past 45 minutes.. :popcorn2:

It's worth the cool factor of owning such a car.

When/if we see pix, then we can put a dollar value on it. Otherwise, your paying what it's worth to you to have it

I was thinking around 90.
I remember a blue one that sold at the nats 2 summers ago (I know it's been 22 months) for 90, and it was a presentable #3 car.

I'd suggest having a professional inspect it. I once checked a Chevy Nomad for someone. Looked good on the surface, they were about to pay a good buck for it. The vehicle was clipped. And it was a butcher job.

How's the rest of the car? Interior complete? Any rust?

Probably $80 tops with minimal or no rust. You can find restored 440-4 birds from 120-140K from time to time. And nice ones. Just check ebay. Would cost you more to do the paint and body work also interior and rebuilding heater box, and gauges, etc to restore since most birds have have costly restorations done to get them to show quality.

I spent 65K on my bird restoration. More than that now as I put original Goodyears on it, after considering it finished, along with sending the cluster out for resto.
The car needed a little body work, paint, and all mechanical rebuilt. Interior is original and no work needed. It appraised for 185K in 2004 when I considered it finished. 15 year old paint looked good at the Moparty picnic last weekend.

How much did you get it for? And what year?

I haven't sold it. I bought it in 2000, from the original owner. Thanks Jerry

The owner was asking 35K. I bought him a new Dodge truck for it. Sorta a long story.

WTB-matching numbers Superbird. Will pay 35K lol.... you’re a lucky guy!
