I just use diaganol cutters on either side of the square part and squeeze. There is a divot in the flat side that keeps that section from bending and the 2 sides will just suck in abd be tight
There is a tool to properly crimp
Oetiker clamps. Don't just use a cutting tool like diagonals or side cutters. The tool has a little die that pushes in on the band flat area so the clamp
Maintains its shape.
You can buy them at most auto parts stores. Most commonly known for crimping CV boot clamps. Most parts jockeys don't know the proper name for the clamps.
