im putting this 72 back together and noticed that there is a leak in the power steering. not sure if it's the pump or a hose yet. but my question is this . I've done a lot of searches and have not seen a picture or any write ups about a cooler on power steering. if I need to get a new or rebuild pump does anyone have a vendor that they would recommend ?

You need to ID where exactly the leak is coming from first.

If the leak is coming from the pump and the pump itself is not damaged, you could rebuild it yourself for about $20 for the rebuild kit (available everywhere).

If the leak is coming from the cooler, then that cooler will probably have to be repaired or replaced.

If you plan to Autocross or something similar you will want a cooler. I'm going to put one on because in addition to PS I have hydro boost brakes.

the cooler the better, i just ran a extra piece of 3/8 steel pipe in front of rad.
it doesn't get very hot here long so and i do no real traffic driving.
i recommend it, in the 80"s gm was having rack and pinion failure issues mad all they did is run a extra loop of steel tubing to cool it the fluid
that much more and the problems went away,, man did i replace a lot of racks on those chevrolet celebrity and similar cars

i used same one as Larrry B when i upgraded to a Borgeson steering box. works good.
