looking for someone to rebuild my number matching 383 in the Chicago area. any input appreciated?
thanks

I would recommend Speed Service Inc at 5314 N. Elston Ave. right near the DMV/Driver's License complex. It has an Elston Ave. address & it's weird because you actually have to go into the alley right behind the N.Elston address. I can't remember the guys name, but I've had work done by him and he seemed very experienced & very honest. I took a flywheel to him to be re-surfaced & re-balanced and it turned out the flywheel was balanced to my motor (big rods) and he didn't charge me a dime. Looking around the shop he seems to build a lot of high performance motors & is a "car guy" who would respect a numbers-matching rebuild. 5-stars in my book.

Yeah I'm going to call speed service I used to do a lot of business with them when they were on Irving Park

Stay away from Kilpatrick Engines in Waukesha, WI. I had them do a shortblock for me and have a long list of things they did wrong. When confronted, they deflected all blame back at me and flat out called me a liar. I don't care if you make a mistake, it happens. But when it does, own up to it.

ok no kilpatrick, fondulac might be a bit far for me there has to be someone closer.

Taking care of your numbers matching engine the right way should be worth an extra hour or two drive. Whatever you decide, call at least a couple different guys and get a feel for them.
Jeff, at Jims car shop, will do you right. Family business. Jeff learned from his dad, Jim. Been building Hemis since the 60s.
