Remember the days of snake oil? If you do you have lived as long as a tortoise. Anyway a car buddy put me on to a coolant additive made by several companies that says it lowers engine temperature. Ok for 10 bucks I bought a bottle so I'm ready for you to tell me I'm an idiot at my advanced age having worked on cars a good part of my life or just maybe someone out there in B-body land that tried this stuff and found it actually made a difference? Be kind as you let me know I just bought a bottle of snake oil...I cry easily...

speaking from real world experience , and on more than one occasion , that blown out head gasket fix it **** DOES work. as for yours ? no clue

Lol, bought a bottle last year at Summit myself. I’m satisfied, but I had no problems before, was just trying to stave off problems. Probably better than a lot of other crap out there.
Most of these products do not lower the temperature of the fluid but rather raise the boiling point. I don't think they are Snake oil but I do think that if a fluid like this was so helpful, major mfg's would be using it. I also think even if it helps, it's a band aid for something else that is wrong. my .02

If you are talking about Water Wetter or something similar, it helped my 403 quite a bit. What it does is improve the block to coolant thermal transfer. Especially in high temp areas close to combustion, the heat of the metal exceeds the boiling point of the coolant. This causes micro bubbles to form. Air is a good insulator, so the heat has to transfer into the liquid coolant, allowing locaiized high heat areas. The water wetter minimizes the micro bubbles so the block overall stays cooler. For ten bucks, I'm a believer.

Water Wetter and Kool-it do work. I drained my system down before winter and added antifreeze and have noticed it's a bit warmer than with just distilled water and Kool-it. Even with just enough antifreeze to get it down to zero degrees. It's a proven fact that the more water in your system, the better it will cool.
The manufacturers of today's cars don't need it. The engines are designed to handle the extra heat that the unleaded, 10% ethanol fuel produces. Our older engines are not designed for the extra heat so we have to be more inventive in how we set them up if useing unleaded. These additives can help.

Could I say in the words of Mr. Spock "logical" captain"? In all the years a guy half my age suggested this stuff as a way to lower temp and other well-experienced motor guys my age never brought it up. The proof is in da putting from you guys that have used it...look forward to giving this a try. Thanks for your feedback!

It does work and we have used it in our demolition derby cars for years. However once the radiator is lost it stops working. lol
