I've decided to post my 66 Coronet 500. The car was bought to guide me the restoration of my baby (66 Coronet 500), it was not a parts car, I had two others for that. I thought that I'd build this into some kind of monster, but as I learned about what I had, I realized that this car needs to be what Dodge meant it to be.

Here's what it is:
From San Antonio Texas
66 Coronet 500
two door hard top
bucket seats
console
318
solid floors
Minimal body work ( mostly blocking and paint)

Here's the kicker...3 on the tree!

There were 201 made!
Here's what Dodge did: there's no hump in the tunnel for a floor shifter, so the console base is for an automatic. The plates on top are for a 4 speed and the shifter boot was replaced by a "shifter delete panel"....and I have this shifter delete panel. It's a nice die-cast piece that matches the horizontal groove pattern of the rest of the console top and has the Chrysler number on it. This piece proves the story and you are very unlikely to ever find another.

The big problem with this car is me , I really feel that this must be put back to original. I'm not asking a lot for it, I just want the next owner to make me believe that this the intention.

I have mostly everything to put it together, seats, console, bumpers, grille, trim

If you want to hear more, please PM me. Please pardon the pictures, my wife would only allow me to put an unfinished in our wood lot.

$3,300......What's it worth to someone?

That's what I have in it as it sits. The body is better than good, the only dent is on the end of the trunk lid. Around the rear windshield there's duck tape, which means that there's probably some rust there. Truthfully I have never looked under it, but it's really the only possible rust spot (could be a bad gasket).

Well, this is interesting.

I just posted a second 66 Charger with a 318-3 on the tree.
(a while ago a member had one and it was quite the buzz)
Those are the only 2 I'm aware of.

This is the first Coronet 500 I've even heard of with this combo.

Can you show us a close up of the duct tape/windshield area?

Looks like the chrome 500 trim is missing from the quarter panel, and looks like the holes are patched shut. Is that the case?

What other options does the car have?

I'll post a pic of the duct tape.

The holes are there, and the trim is in my garage. the only holes that are missing ( that I know of ) is the "Coronet" script on the front fenders.
Options: well...it's a non-A/C car, No PS or PB.
I believe that I have a PS knuckle, if you wanted to add it.

I just sold a 66 Belvedere with what must have been a three on the tree. Had column shift and a clutch pedal. No hump for shifter in trans tunnel. I couldn't figure it out as I didn't think Dodge offered a 3 on the tree.

Yea.. it's odd, only 201 made.
I've been trying to find a buyer for it, that wants to keep it as a 3 on the tree. Not having much luck, had a guy two weeks ago offered $3,000, but he wants to drop a 440 in it....I told him "no"...has to tell me it's going to stay a 3 on the tree. He said: "your kidding" . When I told my wife that I wouldn't sell it for 3k, she said: "your kidding".

I living in a world of non-purists.

Truth is, I'd rather have this car be a surviver than rot in the woods. My last push to find the right guy will be at the Chrysler Carlyle show next month. I'll bring pictures and hope for the best.
