Wow. Has any of you had trouble installing these heater hoses?!
These are way tight and very hard. I just got these through Year One a couple weeks ago. While trying to install on the heater core side, it's so tight the heater core tube actually cuts into the inside of the hose.
I used Ballistol (mineral based lubricant) and I can BARELY get these on. Something's wrong.

I'm sorry you have these issues
I purchased a set from ??, can not remember, but I will
Old age?
Mine went right on

I do not use "Year One"

PS: My application was (is) 1970 Superbee
I think I bought them from Mancinni /racing?
Or:
Bob Mazolinni racing here in Riverside CA

The vendors all sell the same "Authentic Restoration" Mopar labeled part......Mancini, year one, classic..blah blah....

Are you sure you got the right hoses? What are the part numbers on them?

I would not want to force them on that hard.

Yea maybe they sent you 1/2" for the small block by mistake???

Starting in 1970, the hoses were a combination of 1/2 and 5/8 inch. Prior to that, they were both 5/8". From your avatar, would you happen to be placing these hoses onto the 68 Road Runner? If that is the application and the hose was supplied from us to the vendor in which you purchased it, the label should be listed as part number "HH3". If you can post a picture of the label and the stenciling on the hose, that would be beneficial.

As stated above, they are not that difficult to slide up onto the barbs, especially if you should use a lubricant to assist in the installation.

You bought the Year one garbage hose with the too thick wall. I had the same problem, two years ago. There's a thread somewhere on Dodgecharger.com. Get them from Richard (69bfan) or Classic Industries. It is impossible to get them on a heater core without breaking it. I has a side-by-side photo of the ones from richard vs Year One junk. As I said, the wall thickness is COMPLETELY WRONG (way too thick) on the Year One hose. If you have an A/C car, forget it.

Bought a set from Classic Industries.
Bit of lube and slipped right on, used the spring clamps that came with it but think i will replace them for proper hose clamps.

I got what I thought was a "good deal" on four sets at what was about 60% off the regular price.

They were unusable.

WAY too thick and WAY too stiff.

I don't know how there wasn't a major backlash.

Yep, Year One sent me the wrong hoses. I hope I didn't **** up my heater core. They may owe me more than the CORRECT hoses...
You want pictures? Here ya go.

The ones on my '69 Coronet, from Classic Industries.
Then again, think the part numbers might be different again for your '68.

this is good to know...was thinking of getting a set

The 68 part number / vendor code is different than the 69 application. Wietse, the corbin style clamps as we supply to the kits for Classic Industries are the correct style. For those who are afraid that the corbin clamps do not seal well, I will run a very small bead of Permatex gasket sealer just behind the barb. This will assist in pushing the hose up onto the nipple and also insures a leak free application.

It is not that they leak, but with a Stant 16Lbs radiator cap i wonder who pops first. :(

Years ago when were running in the NMCA for several seasons, I was running my GTX and never had an issue with any hoses weeping under pressure. The only issue is that if your going to have to remove them, you would have to take a razor blade and put a slit or two into the hose section to aid in the removal. But I had rather do that vs spraying down an engine compartment with anti freeze or even worse at speed, pumping the solution under the tires.

So I rarely buy from Year One, due to their high prices and you can almost always find the same parts cheaper elsewhere.
Now, I will NEVER buy from them again. They gave me a major run-around today - waiting 4 hours for someone to return my call when he said he'd call back in 15 minutes. They suggested these hoses are correct and I was not installing them carefully?!
They will refund my money once I ship them back (on my ******* dime). They came to me in a padded mailing envelope, not a box, so I'll have to come up with a box to ship them back.

The part I left out - I was a little tired when i typed that - I did get a customer support dude at YO who told me it was a "known issue" about the hoses being too thick. I thanked him for his honesty.

I'm very happy with the stuff I've bought from 69bfan at his booth at Carlisle.

Thanks Demonic for the words of encouragement. Good or bad, I am here to learn of the issues, even if it should be one of our pieces or product. We strive to only produce or sell a product that we would use on one of our own personal cars. Likewise, hopefully it can be a two way street for everyone to learn and enjoy the hobby rather than being one of disgust.

Could it be a fitment issue due to an aftermarket heater core? Versus the hoses.......

It is definitely the hoses. They wouldn't fit the block - pump nipples. My core extensions are factory (A/C B body)
