Hi Folks,
I'm Marcel from Berlin and I like to say hello....

Great forum, I read a lot since a couple of years but i never sign in. Actually I'm an oldsmobile guy but time has changing. I have a 69 RR in New York in prospect. the seller wants only cash. I hope I get that somehow.
maybe because he's scared of online scammer. Maybe someone of you has contacts in New York LI and could talk to the seller, check out the car for me or even manage all the import stuff ?

Thanks guys...

Welcome Marcel!

Unfortunately there are many stories about people who have been burned by scammers posing as interested overseas buyers. For that reason, the buyer likely is demanding cash. You will likely eventually need to make a trip here to the USA. Some of our Australian friends have done that with regularity.

If you are interested in a good Mopar, one possibility is to fly over and go to the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, July 13-15. This is one of the biggest Chrysler shows in the world, with lots of Mopars for sale in every condition and price range, PLUS likely every part you could ever want. http://www.carlisleevents.com/carlisle-events/default.aspx

Good luck with your hunt.

Welcome from Indiana. Any seller only wanting cash could be scammer, also. Anybody out there have any experience using a broker?

Welcome.

Welcome from central Illinois. Good luck with this project. I agree with hsorsman if you can go to Carlisle really check the cars out there and talk to the owner on neutral ground . If you go this route have a broker on standby so your transaction goes smoothly. Best of luck to you

Marson - welcome to fbbo from Southern California. I sent you a pm (private message). Look at your mail and reply to me in private as well. An interesting proposition awaits you. Kevin

Marcel, a very hardy welcome from the Pacific Northwest. Happy to have you join the group and all the best with your search for your own Mopar. I agree with the suggestions regarding Carlisle being an excellent place to search.

Welcome to FBBO

god luck on the purchase

Moin,
a 69 RR is not the cheapest car so I would suggest to buy a ticket, fly in and check it by yourself. Berlin - New York is approx. € 500 roundtrip, hotels in NJ are reasonable and the area is worth visiting. You can check with your bank the money transfer prior to the trip and make the deal in person. You can only win, either a nice car or experience.:)

Welcome from North Carolina. We have a few members from Long Island, NY. Maybe they can help you, or already are familiar with the car. Good luck.

Think moderators took down posts about a hejper on L.I. Why?

I don't know why guy sent money to Member to look at car. (helper, should have been clearer) Posts disappeared a few hours later. Maybe kiwi will add something.
