Any one have tips or trick for fixing, restoring plastic grilles? I'm working on a 69 GTX grille.
DO NOT remove the paint. Sand flush and use as a good base, like you would for primer. You are wasting your time removing the old paint. Thanks guys! I have the emblem & paint. Was just looking for tips on removing paint, ect. I tried soda blasting and that seemed to work pretty good but I had to be very careful.
Best advice on restoring these types of grilles.....DO NOT remove the paint. Sand flush and use as a good base, like you would for primer. You are wasting your time removing the old paint.
Yup, gotta have spare grilles to complete one. A MUST.I find this interesting, my grille needs some work and I hope to take care of it myself. My main problem is that there are several of the small vertical pieces are either broken off or broken loose. I did manage to pick up on a couple of grilles on ebay, a few years back, to be able to make repairs to mine. I knew I couldn't ever find one, in good shape, that I could afford to pick up on.
I never saw a Repo grille for them But for the price they go for, plus the moldings on the grille and headlights bezels, Yea i much rather work with plastic that is half a century old.
