My son came across a friend of his that has this 66 Belvedere conv, he wants to sell. But he is looking for an offer. It runs and drives, but it's only a 6 cylinder auto, bucket seats and console.

depends how rusty it is, and how bad you want it

somewhere between 0 and 5K

How complete is the interior? Condition? What about the body and trim? Convertible top intact? What does he want it for? Just a cool summer cruiser (awesome for a young guy) or to restore?

needs a new top and rear window. interior is complete,

Cool 66.... get it.. no rot underneath? if the pass side looks straight like the driver.. 3500 would be a safe price.

waiting on more pics from my son

If it runs and isn't rusted out, definitely worth $3-5k depending on condition.

Wow...who gives a heck if it is a slanty? The engine is the easiest thing to change! I'd rather get a solid and straight car with NO engine than a great running slant six rusty turd.

I paid 7K for a '67 in similar condition and options. It was all cleaned up though.

If it is a 66 convertible with no rust, is complete with a respectable condition interior, I would personally go north of 5K. Where I come from in the northeast, you can spend thousands trying to find and replace rusted areas of the car. If it truly is rust free, I'd be all over it. However, you never said "rust free", so I doubt it is. I would pull the price down based on the quantity of rust.

rear wheel arch condition?

not available

dutchman panel can rust between the layers of metal on 66-70 verts and is a PITA to fix

check frame areas in back of front shock towers and at trans cross member and T bar mounts

If those areas are solid and it's reasonably complete 3-5 K on the upper end.

Keep in mind the gas cap for that car is $300 and is a theif magnet.

Basic formula for me: How much do you want to be into the car for, max $$$ - how much $$$ to get from what it is now to what you envision = max $$$ you should offer. That does not take into account what the car may be worth when done. Lord knows many of us have way more into a project than it's resale value, only because we enjoy the project.

Really assess what is there. The interior may be "complete", but is it a complete "fresh" interior or a complete 52 year-old interior. If it all needs recovering and carpet that's a few grand. The top and glass are a few more grand. Really assess what is missing and what needs fixing. It adds up quickly. Missing trim, fasteners, butchered wiring, gauges/lights not working, switches, weatherstripping, etc. Not all cars for sale are a good value.
