65 Belvedere

Got the trunk painted, rear wiring harness installed and new plugs.
Finished building new front/engine wiring harness.
Hoping to get the engine and trans in next week.
Anyone have first-hand knowledge of AAR/Stinger fiberglass front/rear bumpers?

I got a pair from AAR, they were very nice! Minimal prep before painting. Shipping is 2 for 1 also. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

From AAR. Just out of the box (well packaged too)

I'm changing valve covers to the stock looking 65' chrome ones. Only problem they may not clear the roller rockers. I'm hoping a set of thick cork valve cover gaskets will do the trick. The cost of aluminum spacers is crazy. Anyone know if the VHT brand engine paint is close to the original mopar turquoise?

I need a couple parts out of the 727 if you still have it.
I'm doing a 65 coronet.
Your inbox is full. I am in Harleysville, PA. I have cable trans parts and a complete trans. PM me if interested. Tom

Finally got the engine in. Its a shame, a town of 100k+ you've got to order everything. Simple things like inverted flare tees, carb fittings, engine paint, even valve cover gaskets!!!!!! And they call themselves parts houses.
At any rate, the engine is in.

I guess SMS wasn't kidding about a year to make door panels. Were ordered in October 2017. Ordered the seat covers in April 2018 from Legendary. They're still waiting on SMS to send them the materials.
Other than the bumpers and a few minor issues, I'm ready to knock the "tits" off the cheater's.

LOL......... SMS............. 2 years if your are lucky.
Some guys have got lucky but not many.
Mine were 22 months.

Wow! Twenty-two months? Maybe I need to rethink this. I used to do a lot of upholstery in old street rods. I've still got all my equipment, so, it looks like I'll be dusting it off.
I sure was wanting the original material. And I've only found one place that has it. Guess who that is?

Contacted SMS today. What a waste of time. Same ole BS!.
Anybody know someone that might have the fawn vinyl and matching fabric for a 65' Belvedere?
Legendary is put out as much as I am.

wow, this is not good. is because of the color or is it just the way they do business. who else is out there i need a complete interior.

The thing with SMS is that they bought out all of their competitors. They will take their good old time getting back to you. E mailing them had better results for me than the phone tag. They wanted to corner the market but they don't have the know-how or manpower to run that kind of business.

If I would call any of the other material suppliers the call gets reverted to SMS. REM has been doing the same thing.

You can try Classic Industries 1 800 414 4462 and see what they say. He had some good prices on material but didnt have enough for what i needed. He's linked in with REM on a lot of their products also. They're right next to each other in Anville Pa.

Good luck!

Edit: I ment to say Classic Auto Supply not Classic Industries. Sorry for any confusion. (He really knows these materials)

just great always something. well i will give classic a call and see if they can fill the bill. i feel for street wedge that's a long time.

I got an email from Legendary yesterday. Said they finally got the materials in for the seat covers from SMS. However, their purchasing agent wasn't very pleased with the condition. They're sending me a sample for my approval (or not). I guess the "waiting game" goes on!
Is SMS run by the government?

well good and bad if you like great. if not good what to do your project is looking great. myself i guess i better start looking i wanted a stock looking interior but that's a long time to wait.

I got side tracked. About your grill resto, did you paint the blackouts in the headlamp bezels by hand or mask off the divots? Or are they not painted, I can't tell from the photo. Thanks.
