Noticing a trend in both of my cars during restoration, 68 charger, 69 RR, both bucket seat cars. Driver's side only near and around rear inside mount plate show multiple cracks. Floor also is depressed/buckled in that area. I can pound it up and weld it but how does one support that area to prevent the same issue over and over? Power shifting probably won't help it and..being a little rotund myself, that won't help either. That whole inside tunnel section seems a little weak to begin with.... suggestions?

Do the cars have the inboard bucket seat brackets welded in?

I fixed it. I noticed today that the rear inboard support plates are barely tacked in place...I welded the living **** out of the plates on both sides.....super stiff now with almost no deflection....Guess the factory tacks just aint enough after 50 years! Thanks for the tip hunt2elk!
