Rather than gank all my photographer friends' pictures, here's the direct link to them:

The GTX did fine on the two hour each way trip down there. I didn't run her harder than about 65mph with the 3.55's and she managed to eat an indicated $50 of gas there and back. :)
It was hot as heck as always (90+F) and she really cooked us in the car on the way back, what with the Hedmans and 3" duals making for quite the easy-bake oven inside the car.

A couple pics of her today:

Bless my poor wife. She hung in there with me all day and paid the roasted price for it.
She knew, though....
This trip today was something I and the car both HAD to do; it was the culmination of everything the GTX and myself have been through to get to this point - me with all the medical/cancer stuff and the GTX with, well, everything involved in rising from her former grave in a farmers' field in Virginia almost 8 years ago.
I'm going back in this coming July 5th Thursday for removal of my thyroid this time, the result of still more tumor/nodules being discovered, so it was important to me to make this drive.
I don't expect anyone else to understand that, but it was important to me.

Check out the link. This is a great show, lots of nice rides and famously friendly Tennessee folks in attendance.
I felt at peace and at home amongst them even though I don't know most of them.
It was a good day.
It'll do.

Yes sir, it has at that.
No sir, not done. You know these damn things are NEVER done. :)
-She's not running quite like she should (as usual), so I need to put the ohmmeter to the new spark plug wires I just cut up for her.
-She absolutely BROILS you when going for extended rides, even though my temperature gauge never got above the left demarcation of the middle of the gauge (I'm guessing that's right about at the 180 thermostat opening) and even though I installed a shutoff valve on the heater hose and have it totally OFF right now.
Methinks the headers and 3" exhaust might be the next -ectomies coming up.
-The transmission, although quiet and functional, feels less than stellar (yes, I verified the Hurst is spot on in adjustment).
- STILL no radio in the dash. :)
-A piece of the windshield trim came off and flew past my window while going down the highway at speed yesterday.
More of the previous owners' fine work. Discovered his idea of attachment was to take some of the windshield glue and try that for it, instead of using some proper clips.
We drove all the way back with me gripping the molding in place with my left hand, I kid thee not. *snicker*

The car ain't right - but yesterday proved she has attained at the least being a car. I hereby grant her "CAR" status. :)
If I get past this thyroid crap, there's plenty to do yet...
and y'all?
I ain't done yet.
Bet on it.

By the way, near as I can figure it, the GTX got a hair above 10mpg on the trip there and back.
Does that sound about right? She was turning 3000rpm at about 63mph with the 3.55's.
