Good Afternoon,

Can anyone recommend leaf springs. I have a 67 GTX that is currently held up in the rear by air shocks due to weak springs. Also, the rear tires are a bit too wide, so the extra height is needed.

Can anyone recommmend leaf springs that will provide the stock stance, and ones that will provide a minor rake? It's a street driven car, so I'm not looking for anything rough. Basically a stock replacement in terms of stiffness.

It's a 4 speed with a dana 60 if that helps anyone.

Thank you

I've got a '67 Belvedere that had the same problem. I installed Mopar Performance Heavy Duty, ("Hemi") leaf springs. The right side springs have two extra half leafs so I bought two right side springs and put one on the left side. I went with KYB shocks. I am running 15x7 wheels with a 4 1/4" backspace and 225 70 15 tires front and rear. The car has a slight rake to it and there are no tire clearance issues. Hope this helps.

From what I've read, I think there's a company called "ESPO" and maybe one other (?) that make "stock replacement" type leaf springs. I "think" you can request up/down and inch or two (?). Also, if you get the springs & need "a little" lift in the back, maybe consider some longer rear leaf spring shackles + shock extensions (or longer shocks) in the back.

Or just go with RT6PK's recommendation. I've heard mixed reviews on Mopar HD springs (& super stock springs), but mine seem to be fine.

I bought a set from Eaton Detroit Spring for a Nova. They worked out nicely. I have not used any from another source.

I put a set of Mopar xhd springs on my 66. I like them but they didn't raise the rear quite as much as I would like. They do ride nicely though. If you can find a good spring/suspension place locally they should be able to recurve a stiffen you original springs. Just tell them the height you are looking for.

Hi 67 GTX
I put a set of Mopar Performance springs on my 66 Belvedere II. Part number is P4452983 and P4452982. You can get them from places such as Summit. Mine rides great and I have no clearance issues. I also run 235x60x15 tires on a 4 corners. Hope this helps.

Eaton looks to be a very respectable company with quality springs. I wish I had known of them before I ordered mine from Summit. Oh well, next time....

I put ESPO on my last car and have been happy with them so far. They are supposed to be a better quality than the current MP springs. They are also matched sets so your car isn't sitting lopsided although that would be correct if you are doing an oem restoration that came with XHD springs. They come as standard height, or you can pay a small uncharge to get -2, -1, +1, or +2.

ESPO Springs cant go wrong. stock, plus 1 inch, plus 2 inch. great people will buy from them again.

I just put Espos on my '66 - stock height. Very happy with them - great people to work with, too.

Duplicate post.

i installed a set of the 1" lowered springs from Hotchkis on my '66 Coronet its mini tubbed so the front hangers they provide will not work so new holes must be located to achieve they're original intent for lowering the car which as of now i have not performed i wanted to try them out first and see how it looked/rode before and after i put some road miles on it as well which i did. They seemed to perform well as i just completed a 500+ mile trip on various types of roads while loaded with 3 people averaging 160lbs, full luggage and a various assortment of tools, parts and such.

Can anyone confirm if a 67 GTX 440/4-speed w/ a dana 60 is supposed to sit level in the rear? Or if one side is supposed to be higher than the other, due to one side having an extra leaf spring.
