"Bogus" Broadcast Sheets - anyone got a problem with this guy?

How to make buyers wonder if a car is what it is. Hope Fiat/Chrysler goes after him.

As owner of a restoration shop I think it’s great to have access to those who can provide reproduction documents like window stickers, which are for the most part obvious reproductions but great for display, copies of legitimate factory records showing all options a car had from the factory like the well known “Marti Reports” for the ford guys, and simple stuff like factory owners manuals. But when it comes to build sheets I think that crosses the line. These and fender tags are the main connection to proving legit factory options and could mean the difference between tens of thousands of dollars or even 100k in value for the right car. The descriptions of some of these build sheet adds states that they will put whatever you want on them, and unless you really, I mean really know what you are looking at you could be duped into buying a car that is a complete fraud. Prominence is in the paperwork, and outfits like this are not doing anything to hold my confidence when someone says they have all the paperwork on a car that I am interested in.
I don’t like it.

When presented as being original than I do have a problem with it.......The ones whom support it will state it is only a piece of paper.....However, we all know that piece of paper adds value and legitimacy to a cars originality...

I just dealt with a guy that just sold a 69 A12 Bee. I was interested in the car and with a friends help......The car he claimed as being completely matching numbers had a 69 block re stamped with the cars vin and had a reproduction fender tag. He did not have the BS but I bet if he was aware of that ad he would have got one. Sad because a guy today somewhere who won that auction thinks he scored an all original numbers matching car and it is not......

People think that the core knowledge on these cars are no longer around........This is why history on these cars have to be preserved for the future......One may not like OE concours restorations but they do serve a big purpose to preserve history....

I'll stick with my rescued one. No doubt of authenticity this way. He may be totally honest but sure is tempting owners to falsify their car history.

I have a problem with the people who so desperately want to prove their car is something other than it is. Mines a Charger that had a 318... who cares, still proudly wearing it's correct badging.

this is just another example of greed. when people start paying stupid money for muscle cars, it drives people to scam and take advantage of those who have stupid money to spend. Barret Jackson and the others certainly don't help and if anything , glorify the stupid money being spent. everyone wants a piece of it and it will drive the crooked to figure out ways to do it.

Have to agree with all the above. The only person still alive that knows my story is the better-half. Threw away the one BS I found under rear seat( didn’t know any better). AND why would anyone believe my wife(?) she could be in on a scam too. Sad.

Well I see both sides of this situation. It's nice to have something to display with your car but I feel it should have a big ol stamp that says not org and may not be correct ! I can see the scamers going to town with these sheets !

Lucky for me my ol gal came with order sheet ,window sticker , build sheet and fender tag! Nothing fake about my charger ! Everything is numbers too! Except I'm doing a 4 speed converson . People ask why if my car is well documented and all numbers my resonsre is I can care less I just wanna have fun ! Screw the numbers . If I was worried about numbers I would of just not bought anything because the number I have invested is twice what it's worth and I'm only half way done!!!

This same guy is selling them on Craigslist too. Total fraud and BS...should be illegal

There's a guy in Canada selling blanks for $15, not aged. Not sure how these two can sell a form with "Chrysler" on it when it didn't come from Chrysler Corp. I could get there if Chrysler were left off and it just said "Car Reproduction Broadcast".

Mine is "aged to perfection" - and legit. :)

This has been going on for many decades. (First one I saw was around 1985)
Better look over all your paperwork, unless you owned the car since new!!

If there's a buck to be made, someone did...

It's a novelty item, but yeah... some people will try to take advantage of others. Hell, people throw the word "Hemi" on things like radiator fans trying to get $500 from buyers who don't know they're the same part number as a 383 fan that you can pick up for a buck-fifty. I remember back in 1979 when we busted a guy claiming to be selling an original 1973 Super Duty Trans Am. We test drove it, impressive, but then we detected a flaw. His shaker had "455 - SD" so we questioned him. He finally admitted it was a clone, but he never stated that in his ad. He didn't do his research... and got busted.

With this guy, I don't know... as a novelty item it's kinda cool if you're into that sort of thing. I'd rather have original or nothing at all... my broadcast sheet ended up in a baggie, but then became a million pieces so it was trashed. You have to figure that anyone who is trying to pass it off as original won't fool a purist looking for original documents, he'll only fool a fool who is soon parted with his money.

Yep, Chrysler will go after him if they see him selling something with their logo. I know ways around it, but I'm not going to divulge... don't care for the practice.

Not being a Pontiac guy, shouldn't 455-SD be on the shaker? How did you know it was a fake?

It would be ok for the honest person looking to replace one that's been lost but even in that situation, I'm pretty sure it's illegal so that settles it and yes for the crook trying to pass something off as something it isn't, it complicates matters. I hope they shut them down
