Damn fridge quit making ice cubes...

I think so. It spit out a row of cubes and refilled the tray. Maybe the temperature has to be just right for the whole cycle to function properly? Maybe it won't even open the water valve until the temperature is right?
That's a good possibility. So it's starting to make ice now?

Yeah...It is on it's second cycle. By morning, (8 hours from now) if it is working right, it should have another 4-5 rows of cubes in the bucket.

If it turns out that the fill tube through the cabinet was indeed the cause, heres the likely cause. You should never have a saddle valve on the water supply. The gasket will indeed swell with age, and reduce the water pressure to a point where the cubes will get smaller, and eventually the unit will fill slowly enough to allow the tube to build ice and block-up. Full port ball vales are always your best choice, and they make them in slip-on compression style where you just cut the pipe and slip-over. http://www.siouxchief.com/docs/defa...---add-a-line---brochure.pdf?sfvrsn=fae3837_6

huh-huh he said ball valve

" The gasket will indeed swell with age, and reduce the water pressure to a point where the cubes will get smaller"
Sounded like a prostrate problem all along

"ball valves are always your best choice"
Didn't know this was an option

California warming? No ice for you!
Glad you got your pipes cleaned Kern an all is well in the universe again.

How come the H2O Filter isn't mentioned??? After time it can become clogged if not changed out at least once a year. Also the other thing here is the Frigidaire Product line has always left me with a very product inferior taste me me to consider purchasing. Them along with Westinghouse and GE. My opinion only on those. But replace the H2O filter while you are at it...cr8crshr/Tuck:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

"Damn fridge quit making ice cubes..."

...so did his parents.

That's just cold!

I think it takes a few cycles of ice to get back up to speed properly. What about a plugged or restricted H2O line? I know CA. doesn't have the greatest quality water unless you have a whole house filter. Good Luck

Another California dig? Our water is just fine, thank you...Please knock that crap off!

There is no dig intended here! There's tons of mineral deposits and whatnots in your water, I lived there for over 15 years, I've seen it! I have the same problem here, hard water causes problems, period! Just look at what it does to your shower walls after awhile! You Sir knock it off!

Mines a Whirlpool, it's done it a few times, 10+ y/o
our ice maker is in the top of the freezer,
the Ice bin is on the door
on ours, it's usually it's a small fractured piece of ice
stops the ice remover, from rotating & dumping the Ice
sometimes it's hard to see or tell too...
I'm not sure why it fractures or does it, it just does...

{mine has a little sensor beam across the Ice Bin that shuts the
ice supply off from dropping what's in the make, when the ice bin is full}

that's the 1st thing I usually check now
or the sensor is blocked

we have no water or mineral issues here, not where I live
nice clean, clear, fresh mountain spring drinking water
not some masses-shitty *** water, with all kinds of chemicals
NOT ALL OF CALIF. IS THE SAME !!

I've only changed the filter once in 10 years
it's not a cheapo deal either...
I cut it apart to see, what it looked like inside
it had literally no deposits at all,
I just push the 'reset button' about every 6-8 months or so
when the light shows/yellow or red,
that we 'allegedly' need a new filter,
it's total BS up-sale for expensive parts
it's bogus, it may be good for shitholes/inner-shitty areas that have
a lot of minerals or deposits/additives...

I know a appliance repairman a friend of my dads,
been doing it for decades now, that says
they go off, warn on regular intervals,
that they are not regulated by flow at all...
They aren't that sophisticated, not on the model I have anyway
It's ain't not cheap POS either...
I'm sure some are different too...
I trust his opinion, he knows his ****...

Good luck with the fix, it's hot we need ICE...

Opinions & result may vary vastly, don't assume anything...
If you can't help or contribute something, actually worthwhile
maybe you should just STFU...

I have yet to find a filter on this thing. The water supply line is clear and flowing well. It comes in from a copper pipe under the house, is then connected to the water control valve, then a line runs up to the upper right hand corner of the fridge. If there is a filter, maybe it is between the ice maker and the back wall of the fridge? I have no drinking water function on this one.
The tray had cubes this morning and even more this afternoon. It seems to be okay now.
Thanks everyone!

My filter is on the bottom of the fridge
under the removable front grill,
in-front of where the condenser drip tray is underneath...

Not sure about yours...

The vast majority of refrigerator filters are located in one of two locations – in the grille at the base of the fridge or in the back upper-right corner of your refrigerator. In either location, you’ll see a knob or a button that will easily release the filter for removal.

Greg, what's your model number of your frig?

Your higher up the hill then where I was, so I'm sure your water was a lot fresher then mine as it's commin down the mountain. But don't you have bears in your area that **** in the woods?:poke: But you right, I'd really hate to see what's picked up in the water from the reservoir to the time it gets to your sink going through all those aquafer's to the folks in the central valley? What mineral's and crap is picked up are in there?

Boy, I sure hope that wasn't directed to me? I agree, thank you!
