Hi guys. I’m new here, but wanted to share about my car and where I’m at with it. It was a slow start to get going on this charger. I’ve had it for about four years now. Shortly after buying it, I told my wife that I was ready to try to have a kid. With that being said I wanted a house of our own. So the car stuff was put on hold. I sold my 65 D100 and 63 valiant wagon and we bought our home with a two car garage. One spot for my charger and one for her metropolitan. Shortly after moving, we found out she was pregnant. So for the next few months I spent my time getting the house ready for when my son was born. He just turned two and things are starting to settle down enough that I’m getting out in the garage again. So far I’ve pulled the engine and transmission out of the car and replaced the trunk pan. Right now I have most the floors out an am cleaning up inside the frame rails for paint before I weld the new floors in. Progress may be a little slow here and there since things are pretty busy around here. But I look forward to sharing my progress with everyone.

Here are a few more of the floor pans. The floors weren’t too bad but I wanted solid metal for the uscartool subframe connectors to weld to. The insides on the frame rail were super clean!

That looks eerily similar to what I just went through!! :) Though I didn't have the confidence to do it myself! Looks like you are doing very nice work!

Welcome aboard, looks like you got a nice start on it. Be sure to keep updating.

Welcome aboard. Nice prep work.
Lots of NorCal members on this site - where are you located?

Thanks guys. One step at a time. I’m in Brentwood ca. Here are a couple picture of the car when I bought it. It ran and drove, but needed everything to be gone through. I figured I better just take it apart and go through everything and make it right vs. have problems all the time and be frustrated with it.

Welcome aboard from the Mojave desert!
Wow, great FAB skills!
Where did you learn that??

Not too much fab going on here. Just cleaning, prepping, fitting and welding AMD sheet metal. But thanks. I learn from reading articles on the subject and looking to see what others have done. I took welding classes at a local college when I wanted to learn to weld.

Welcome from NW CT. Car looks great - keep up the good work man...

Welcome from North Carolina. You're off to a great start. Looking forward to further updates.

Welcome from Ohio. Nice work.

Hello & keep on keeping on. It will be worth it when done!

Welcome to FBBO from SoCal. Looks like a nice project car. Not to much yet enough to keep you busy and let you have some fun building her the way you want her. Looking forward to following your thread. Good luck

Congrats on the baby boy, house and the Charger. And thanks for the plug on our frame connectors!

Welcome from Slaughter,LA.
Great car to start with from what I see. Most of us guys would have died for a floor that clean. And ole slantscamp just cuts it out. Lol. Just kidding around. Thanks for posting progress pics. Look forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I got out in the garage for a bit today before it got too hot. Just finished separating the floor pan from the firewall seam and removed the rear floor pans. This stuff takes a lot of time. I didn’t get as much done as I wanted, but I had to wash the boat because I took it out last night to go have dinner. Life can be rough.

Welcome! Congrats on the little boy, house and the car. I’m in a similar boat I bought my 69 4 years ago in August and my little guy was born two weeks later. Being in Nova Scotia my Car was rotted completely. If it wasn’t for it being free and family connection I wouldn’t have done it. Check out my thread it’s “my free 69 charger RT restoration”. Great car and work so far I will be watching this one!
