I have a 1973 Dodge Charger with stock interior it's not in bad shape but the vinyl is starting to crack on the drivers seat and the top of the back seat. I love the look of it but want to go leather with some reinforcement padding on the sides to keep me in the seats . Do I do that or maybe find some completely more modern seats and seat tracks to make it more contemporary.I'm really torn because I love the stock look but want the seats to be better quality. Any suggestions are really appreciated it ,
Thank you
Doug

They look great, keep them stock and see if Legendary has a kit to change to leather with extra padding on the side.

Wouldn't extra padding on the sides need extra material to cover it ?
I know when i recovered my seats it was a snug fit getting the new covers on the stock seat.

I have the same interior. Legendary and Year One have what you need. IMO, keep it stock.

When you have a good upholsterer, they could redo that in the leather of your choice in the color of your choice with as much add'l foam that you want.
I don't have an OEM kinda car so my wife & daughter determined the renewal.
Have seen my guy redo a 49 limo in mohair,he is amazing!

How will you use the car? 12,000 miles/year or 1500/year. Build the car for what use it will get. If interstate driving tall gears, A/C, quiet pipes, great sound system and super comfy seats. My experience has shown me that I don't make money on my car hobby. I love building and I love driving but I will never be a Chip Foose builder. Your car looks to be factory original and very nice. My temptation would be to keep it that way. JMHO Dave

I have to vote for a stock interior from Legnedary, but it's your car. If you want something custom, then break out the Visa plutonium card & find a true custom interior shop...or have it done in Tijuana.

I have the same seats and patterns. when I recovered them I added a layer of 1/2" soft foam . personally I think newer seats look completely out of place. that's what mine had in it and they went straight in the dumpster

I’m not so hung up on keeping everything perfectly stock. I like what I like and like to do things that I like... Is that enough likes? I redid my entire interior in leather. Love the look and feel. I picked out the hide and color myself and had an upholstery guy in LA do the work. I picked a bit more modern look that I saw on a 70 GTX in one of the fast and furious movies. Still old school but a bit more padding and comfort while sticking to a custom vintage.

Also in the respect like someone above said if you go for a completely modern look seats I tend to think they look out of place in our old cars. Just a word of caution - leather and custom works costs a pretty peso.

I too am not into modern interiors in classic cars.......but thats my personal choice and no offense to others.......

Extra padding makes a huge difference.........

You don't have to ask our opinion, it sounds like you know exactly what you want. That's a blessing. Now find someone who can do it. Find a good upholstery shop.
