I can't remember the last time when a jetliner crashed and there weren't any deaths. Judging by the video, it looks like they just barely lifted off. They'll probably determine that there was either a mechanical problem, pilot error or weather related.

Embedded media from this media site is no longer available

However, I can imagine that it's hard to fly a plane with that little chain steering wheel. Whether that was a contributing factor will need to be determined.

I can almost guarantee you that they encountered the gust front from a thunderstorm behind them right about at rotation. Wind moving in the same direction as the aircraft so air speed dropped and the aircraft lost lift and settled back down. Could not have happened at a worse time. Well, maybe it could have. Had it happened a few seconds later, they'd have had a bit more altitude and you can bet that the results would have been worse.

No it's because she was on her phone why the plane was trying to lift off!

Or maybe the dingleberries hanging from the headliner obstructed the pilots view?

Hard to tell from the video but were the flaps deployed?

Not positive, but I think if the aircraft was configured in takeoff mode with flaps deployed, there would have been an audible warning. I'm surprised that the tower gave him takeoff clearance. They would have had a better assessment of conditions than he would have.

Those Embraer planes are trouble. My daughter was going to take one from Czheckoslovakia to Poland this winter. I forbade her and made her take a train.

I don't fly Embraer either. Another reason to wear proper footwear when flying. Running through fire or cactus no fun in flip flops. The check in counter here has many with refrigerator carry ons.

Crazy stuff...

After reading those reports, those that gave any info seemed to be weather related, over weight and /or pilot error with a few explosives related incidents. Can't blame those on the aircraft.

As an air traffic controller I can tell you weather is no joke. If there was a storm front that is some scary stuff. You normally want a good headwind for departure so I'm curious to see what runway configuration they departed on and what the winds were. Super lucky no one died

Incredibly lucky people given the statistical outcome of airplane crashes.

I wouldn’t want to fly in anything not made in the USA or Western Europe. I say that yet I’ve had many crazy flights knocking around Asia a few years back. Especially those short flights in country in Vietnam. Russian piece of **** planes until they upgraded to airbus. When you’re younger your braver or more stupid - whichever. Thankful no one died in this Mexico crash.

I didn't realise that the Pilot had gotten so involved with the Hostess so early in the flight.....
