anybody have problem filling up there belvedere . I have a client with his "56 nomad
same issues , it doest like to fill up to top and stops .
I found one a esso ( mobil) that i can pump it slow enough not to spit ,
ultramar ( valero) seems to be high flow. i can't get it to pump slow enough
here we don t have those weird nozzles like in california , there the old style
seems to flow too fast

My 63 Valiant the fill was low and on the left side like your B body. I would turn the fill nozzle upside down with the hose end at the top. Something to try next time.

I try that , too bad that esso station is far from me , the pump I very low pressure

My experience, all depends on the "bend"/angle of the nozzle from each pump & how you put it in the filler.

I understand turning a nozzle upside down is a no no. Auto shut doesn't work?
I pump by hand, even on the slowest auto-fill it kickout.

I'd about that but I've had the stupid ca nozzle shoot out of the car spraying gas all over 2 times now both at 76 stations. Those ca nozzles are supposed to shut off as soon as the big rubber boot slides forward. So much for that happening

Owned the 69 Coronet since 1988 and have never filled up without spilling fuel. Not even once.
Some of the short **** hoses are a pain in the *** as you have to be staged just right at the station. Not easy to do when sharing an island with the self absorbed.

My 71-74 chargers fill up easy fairly straight shot to the tank ,I got to go slow with the 64 300 or it will keep cutting off

I here ya Dennis. Before getting used to it.I had to move the car several times just to make it reach the center of the back bumper. GRRRR !. Now I fill 2 Race cans and fuel at home.I do know that you drive long distance with your ride and that's not a option.

upside down handle works on my 67 coronet. cali pumps just suck. stay away from truck stop type gas stations. pumps are set up for fast fill because of larger vehicles coming in all the time.

Spout has to get below the vent tube or the tank will not vent properly. Remember when these cars were built nozzles were longer and larger in diameter.
To keep people from putting leaded fuel in a unleaded tank the filler hole was made smaller. With that the fill vent was placed at the restriction. No need for a longer nozzle than what was required to keep it in the fill spout.
Even with the old nozzles and pumps the side fill tank was a slow fill. The new equipment as we all know slows the process even more. My 82 D350 has the same problem.
