Parking Brake Cables

Spent some time cleaning up my parking brake cables. I’ve heard that the cable end portions that insert into the rear backing plates were painted red for to assist in assembly at the factory. Noted both my rear cables had faint red paint on both ends, at the backing plates & also at the frame bracket retainer assembly. Know some guys are interested original detail markings. Thought I’d pass it along if it helps someone.

Yep my Coronet had the red paint too.

Hi Jim.....enjoyed following your build. I was surprised that both ends of my cables were painted red. Thought it applied to only to the backing plate ends. We’re both ends of your cables (backing plate & frame bracket end connectors) painted red also.....Jim

Thanks. I could not tell on the one end. The backing plate end was for sure.
