Im going to be doing a carb 383 stroker this winter and was wondering if anyone is running a in tank fuel pump? If anyone is could I get your feedback how its working for you and your set up? Thanks. With heat in the summer months it would be nice to have a in tank pump. They run cooler and make less noise. I also don't like the look of the electric pumps that are mounted under the tanks.
 
I would think someone makes a low pressure in tank pump
 
You can run a high pressure pump and regulate it. You usually need to run a reg even with the lower pressure pumps too. Did you read the article from that link I posted?

This is the type of pump you need. Others make them as well. It basically attaches to your existing pick tube up in the tank via a bridging tube and small clamps and is secured with a gear clamp. I recommend wrapping the body in neoprene before clamping to ensure it doesn't rotate. A pump of this style lets you maintain all of your existing fuel lines and remove the mechanical pump as well as eliminating an upstream pressure regulator ( 35 gph is a lot). You'll have to inquire into the electrical connection studs and how to mount them into the existing sender mounting plate at the point of sale or contact the manufacturer.

I did read the article after I made the second post. They make a very nice kit and as long as you run a return line you shouldn't run into overheating pump problems. Now Yatzee I like the idea of a low pressure pump better because I would like to keep the stock fuel lines and I will run a regulator and return line. One question though, is it possible to run the regulator at the rear of the car if you have the desired pressure at the carb or does the pressure volume factor come into play and that's why they want the regulator close the the carbs and elevated?
 
I have a '65 Coronet that I put a Aeromotive pump in the tank. It took some fabrication but nothing that a good street rod type shop couldn't handle. You can also call Tanks Inc to see if they have plans to do an early B body tank. Maybe you could convince them to do a tank if a few people sent them emails.
 
Andyf did they do any cutting of the trunk floor to get it ti fit?

I had Rick's Tanks in El Paso build a S/S tank with a 255lph pump installed to use with my FiTech dual TB crossram set-up. Very quick service and excellent quality. Worked with Hector.

Sure. I'll throw a bunch of pictures on here. Most of my learning curve on the FiTech came from the Chevelle forum and from FiTech. I recommend calling them if you have a problem or need information. Faster service than email.
The car runs great, as good as it did with 750 cfm and then 600 cfm Edelbrock carburetors. Faster starting, immediate stable idle, no warm up period and very crisp throttle response. My only complaint now is that the handheld device reads coolant temperature about 20* less than actual, as measured by an Autometer mechanical gauge and an infrared temperature gun. According to the owners, they are working on a feature that will allow you to sync the two.
