I bought a set of 4.56 gears for my Dana 60. Came in a Dorman Mfg box. Pretty sure they are made by one of the gear company’s. Wondering who makes these for them

The box says "Made in India". Pretty sure that I would have to pass on those. I don't even think they have cars in India, let alone cars with a Dana. Moser or Spicer here.

I THINK Yukon is made in India, so I'd be inclined to think that is who it is. Dr.Diff in Polson, MT does a lot of business with their stuff. I still went with the Moser stuff myself, but he has really good feedback on it.

Dorman ring & pinion set. Holy ****, that's scary !!!!! I have to deal with their junk almost every day. They can't even make a decent window regulator ! They have cornered the market, though, and seem to be driving everyone else's quality down to their level, just to be able to compete.

Yukon gears WERE made is the USA, Chicago if I recall. I am not sure if they still are. They were part of US Gear IIRC

When I build my Dana 60, I had Dr.Diff supply the axles and parts. Yukon was the lower cost but recommended option. I went with Strange or Moser, I forget which. Couldn't do India.

Aren't mahindra tractors Indian?

They are gaining an awful lot of market share, lately.

Gee guys. Almost everything is manufactured overseas these days. I buy a lot of auto parts & most of it made overseas. I was on vacation in Savana, Ga about 10 years ago. We had a room on the river front. I watched a freighter with a Lybian flag unload about 400 John Deer tractors. The Dorman name I don’t think matters. They didn’t make it. I’m knda thinking New Process Gear.

I have the bargin $190 Dana 60 gears from Dr Diff. Well over 100 passes in the low 9's, 1.25-1.30 60ft. They set up well with a nice wide pattern. Zero noise coasting with the engine off.

I found the Dorman window regulators for my 2005 F-150 were made much better than the factory ones. All 4 failed within the first 10 years. Dorman's are still going strong.

Everyone singing Dorman's praise's, consider yourself lucky. Been dealing with them professionally for probably 20+ years. Of course SOME of the many parts they make/slap their name on, are acceptable. I actually liked them WAY back, because they produced oddball stuff that nobody else would bother with. They still do. That's the good Dorman. Deal with their crap day after day, and almost everyone else's for that matter, and you will change your tune.

@65wgn440 I don't doubt or question your experience with Dorman. I am sure you have plenty of first hand knowledge. I just wanted to share my limited experience with a particular product and bitch a little about the blue oval.

Yes, I know I get a little worked up when it comes to aftermarket parts ! My suppliers get an ear full from time to time !! You know Ford had had window motor issues for a looong time. We used to buy kits to rebuild them from Ford. My son and I went down to Florida (in August !!) to pick up a '92 Lincoln my uncle gave me. Got there and found out that not one window would go down AND the AC was inop ! We had to drive the thing back to Ohio (after a detour thru Everglades to Key West) ! Ended up fixing AC in an auto parts store parking lot, and eventually figured out we could muscle the windows up&down with a little teamwork. I will never forget the drive to the parts store in 100 degree heat & humidity !

I'll use parts from India before I'll use the crap from China!
