'69 Dodge Super Bee - Mod Top?

very cool car..
me like!

This is interesting to me because I bought an orange bee new in 69 and very soon regretted the color.

It got unwelcome attention and cost me hundreds of dollars as I grew to understand why. I just wanted to drive my car (under the radar).

Also the "flower" people of the day that I hung with were all about finding pot and other drugs to help pay for a flower sticker to put on their VW bug.:p

wow that super bee looks great I love that top

Did we ever see any additional information on this car? Some pictures would be great. There were some errors in my previous decode which I have corrected in bold italics below.

Most of the floral tops built were with a white interior. I think this is the only one I have seen with a black interior. This is a very unique car.

Hey guys. Haven't been on the site for a while so I missed out on some of this...

The car is still unfinished and still as seen in the pic I posted last year. Like I said when he bought the car, in the very early 80's, the floral top had been replaced with a black top and it wasn't until he started tearing the car apart many years after he got it and started the restoration that he found some remnants of the original floral top under the black top. He had thought for years that it was just another run of the mill 69 Super Bee. But he did some research and found out how rare it is. He started the resto and it has stalled because he and I build cars for other people and we stay pretty busy doing that. I told him that there is no way he should NOT put that floral top back on it but he kind of wants to build it back like it was when he got it.... with that black top. Seems kind of crazy to anyone that isn't him but if you put yourself in his shoes, all those memories carry some weight.

As soon as more progress happens, I will update you guys. I don't think it'll happen this year though. We just have so much work to do and more cars coming in every day. It's hard to turn away paying jobs to SPEND money on your own stuff sometimes.

I want to thank everyone for the compliments. I would like to tip my hat to "mopargem" - Nice car Bro.

And of course a huge "Thanks!" to Big D A12 for the excellent info. - I will pass this update on to my buddy and maybe knowing that he could have the only black interior floral top Super Bee may be enough to get him to go back stock with that top. I mean 1 of 28 is awesome but 1 of 1 on something like this is absolutely epic.

Did the car ever get finished? I know this thread is old but...

Man, as cool as they are. As rare as they are. I knew it was the 60's but I could never put one back on my car if I found a Mod Top car. I would have to give the material to Grandma to make some curtains out of it. Or, of course sell it to someone that wanted one & find another one of my liking.

I just spoke with a gentleman last month at the Mopars at the Red Barns show in Hickory Corners, Michigan. He is the original owner of a '69 Super Bee with a Floral Top and still owns it. He and his son have been trying to do a budget restoration on his Mod Top Bee for a number of years now. He was able to locate enough original top material to redo his car. He is hoping to have it done by next years show. I believe his is an F8 green car.

So anyway, there are at least a few of them still out there!

Very cool M&M .
Keep us posted if you see it , or get updated progress on it.
With the F8 paint the green floral top is really going to pop.

I know of an original family Mod Top Dart that is black .
