70 Roadrunner Passenger Mirror Installation

I'm looking to add a passenger side mirror on my 70 RoadRunner, it's a finished car so I need to get it perfect on the first shot. If anybody has any kind of step by step,tips,what I'll need or point me in the right direction I will greatly appreciate it.
 
Measure it out, mark it, center punch where you want the holes, and drill slow with ample lubricant and a new drill bit. Don't want to get the metal too hot.

Thank you. I'm guessing the door panel needs to come off,any tricks for removing that? The hardware has one small Phillips screw and a threaded rod with a lock nut. Will I need to drill for both? Do I need to tap the hole?
 
Use a proper tool to pry panels loose. Carefully. Better yet, dont install it. It has little value/use. I put one on and it pitted quickly as not the quality of the oem on the drivers side.
I drilled what I thought to be factory markings and the glass of the wing bumps the mirror when swinging open. Less is more. Forget it.
 
Put masking tape on the door and then mark holes on the tape. Drill through the tape with a sharp, step drill bit.
 
I made a cardboard template of the mirror base and used that to position it based on the position of the factory driver side mirror then marked the holes and drilled.

I did the same thing on a 68 Barracuda. Ended up being worthless decoration. Live and learn

I've been down this road on my 70 RR (twice). I could never find the "exact" location to mount it. 1st try, I just lined up the mirror compared to the driver's side mirror (adjustable), drilled the two holes & installed it. It looked good, but I couldn't adjust it well enough to be useful for safety checking my blind spot. 2nd try (did this last week), I moved the mirror back about 1" & now it works perfectly.

Also, these guys are right that if you're not careful, you can mount it in a location that will catch the bottom corner of the vent-wing window when you open it. I don't have this problem on my passenger mirror, but for some reason my driver's adjustable mirror just barely gets clipped by my vent window when I open it. I'm planning to move that mirror back 1/4", fyi. I do have the advantage that my car isn't painted yet....take your time....measure twice and drill once. The making tape idea sounds like a really good one.
 
If it's NOS (which don't pit, well at least mine didn't), it should come with instructions including location/drill template.

50k miles with passenger mirror. Never used it. 2 more unneeded holes in the door.
Head check. Hit the gas. Another doo-dad. B Bodies have good visibility unlike the modern Challenger with the No-C pillar.

I put one on a 70 Satty I had just to help me back out of my very narrow garage door. I had it tilted down to make sure I didn't scrape the quarters which were in a blind spot.

I just usually scrape the right side when backing.

Yeah that's kind of my concern, I've got 8ft high hedges on my passenger side driveway,so I'd like whatever help I can get. I'm thinking of using some double sided tape to position it to check the view adjustment along with all the other great tips. Thanks !!

Passenger side. YO. Base gasket also weeps black stains to door. OEM better gasket as well.
