!968 Satellite 318 and 904. I would like to put power brakes on using stock parts. Anyone know what all I would need? Is there a difference in the brake pedals and push rod? I am not going to disc brakes...Thanks for any help.............................MO

Booster, master and brake pushrod. Vacuum port off the intake. Hose between the intake and booster.

Also add a booster plate on the firewall. Bolt pattern is different.

That only decreases pedal effort. Larger brakes and wheel cylinders increase braking. Thank about what you want to accomplish.

I believe his wife will be driving the car frequently and being a small framed lady (and very sweet) a little help in brake pressure would be about perfect. I dont think she will be doing any road racing in the future.

I understand that. But power brakes sometimes only mask a problem that could have been solved by a more efficient means.

Yep, I did. Braking is fine, I just want less pedal pressure....................MO

The pushrod and firewall booster plate would most likely have to come from a parts car? The booster and master cylinder may still be available from my parts dealer. I will see if they have a core charge.
Dale, I sold Brutus ..thanks to your suggestion of Mn. and Wi. Craigs list. Friday afternoon, I watched it leave on a trailer , headed for Michigan .:(.........MO

Not sure what they look like, but the swap meet over at Mopars on the Mississippi may have a firewall booster plate and a pushrod. And I will find out If I need MC and booster cores.. As of now, I am planning on going there..............MO

If you want to save yourself a bunch of trouble dragging **** around the show i happen to have a parts Charger that has those parts:thumbsup: and i will bring them with to lunch unless you want to come over and help pull them so you see the setup.

Glad you got it sold but sad i couldnt be the buyer...

I thought maybe you knew me by now ... .........................MO
Yes but we all do strange things sometimes. I put power brakes on the wife's Charger and accomplished nothing. Except spending time upside down under the dash.
So Brutus is gone.

Sounds like a great plan. I will bring my Satty over and we can see exactly what I need. . I see Rock auto has a rebuilt combo MC and brake booster, so I am sure I can source those locally. Thanks Dale.....................MO

Yup, he has gone to a new home, and I am glad it is a good one. Buyer was very happy , and they sent pics and text of cruising around when they got home. They took it to show his father, who once owned a 1964 Dodge. ...........................MO

Here are some pics of what you need. (except for the master cylinder) I bought this booster and hardware for $50.00 and had the booster rebuilt by booster dewey but I was not aware it wouldn't work with my front disc brake upgrade. These single ballast boosters are only for 4 wheel drum brakes and do not provide enough boost for disc brakes. I have close to $300.00 invested but will sacrifice for $250.00 if you can use it. I ended up spending $350.00 for a dual ballast setup from Pirate Jack

I've a '68 Satellite and the brakes are not right. They are power drums and the pedal travels further than it should and can hit the floor and not apply a full brake. I don't know if the car was a power brake car or the booster was added. Looking at these pics I wondered if the link the booster and the pedal link both attach to are the same for power and non power brake cars? This might be my issue if they are different. Any one know?

The picture's in post #16 shows the proper parts.

I figured that but if the holes dare in different locations for the attachments then the stroke ratio would be different. What i need to know if the parts are different between power and non power. I know they are different on older Mustangs but I don't know about MOPARS. Thanks for the help

Yes they are different. A non-power master connects directly to the pedal arm.
