An entry level aluminum head is cheaper in the long run!

We just finished a set of 915's, and now im questioning whether to use them or not, since my comp ratios gonna peak over 12 anyway on the 383 build im doing. They would be 13+ static with those heads, and still over 9 dynamic with the hughes cam, so high. So my other choice is go with open chambers (which I have).
Anybody lodge a guess as to the value of these ready to bolt on?? They CC'd at 79, so im pretty sure no one has ever cut on them. I may consider picking up a set of aluminum ones if the pricing was reasonable. Id be on the fence about selling tho, as its not really been my thing... TIA, Lefty71

That's a sweet deal regardless, but those really look like 1.60" exhaust to me.... Even if they aren't HP's, they still are a good value IMO, as long as they aren't cracked. They should be stamped HP, which he did not show... HTH, Lefty

I don't quite understand all the fuss I sometimes see about "HP" 915 heads. Besides a 100 point restored project, who would buy a set of them and not install 2.14"-1.81" stainless valves ???

True..... I remember when EBAY was a much better tool, there were tons of folks, practically rabid everytime an "HP2" 440 block came up for auction, and they always did better than all the other production blocks, but WHY? As far as I ever knew, the "2" in HP2 just meant it was assembled during second shift. Was I missing something??? You are gonna build it to any level you desire... is your car worth more if it was made during second shift???
And you are right, there are plenty of 915's made into anything you need them to be, but people want the HP stamp on the end.... BTW, the original poster was not asking for hp's, I was commenting on the incorrect CL ad.

You can have your machine shop install 1.74" valves. Make sure they bowl out under the valve. Iron close chambers don't have a lot of material under the seats to accept hardened seats. I have some with hardened seats. Sent them to Aero Head to have em done with 2.02 and 1.80 valves with hardened seats.. They told me that they wouldn't last if I drove the car every day.

Did you have both intake and exhaust done ?
