Found bolt head lying on dryveway. Looked around but haven found where it went. Looked at lights, grill, lower radiator core support. Car is a 69 Charger. I also looked at the head marking document and its not listed. Its 5/16”

Anyone have any idea?

Usually clear zinc coating and star washers indicate electrical ground or connections.

Might of just fell out of somewhere from and old part that was swapped out

I just went out and checked steering column and shift linkage. I will check engine ground. Is there any other ground at front of car that uses 5/16 “ bolt?

Also heres another pic it looks sheared off.

Just checked engine to kmember ground, engine to firewall and front radiator opening ground for lights. I no of no other ground outside car. (bTW Bolt did have grease/dirt on it)

Check trans inspection cover nothing missing.

Very odd it broke that far down from the head and that that portion would overcome the lock washer and unscrew its self.

Could it be from another vehicle or machine?
It’s not an oil drain plug. It’s a broken 5/16” bolt

Check the bolts in the clamps on the tie rod adjusting sleeves on both sides. There are two bolts in each sleeve, they are 5/16", although that one doesn't look like a factory bolt. But then these cars are 50 years old and a lot of stuff has been replaced over the years.

Also another place to check would be the bolts that attach the anti-sway bar mounting brackets to the K-frame. Just some thoughts??

It actually held the inversion relay to the flux capacitor. With that having fallen off now, you likely are going to notice that it will have zero effect on performance. It may however leave a continual thought in your mind of which ground cable is no longer secured. :)

Possibility anyways.

That bolt could have came from a number of places,if you have no leaks or nothing came apart, don't lose sleep over it,someday you'll find where it came from.
