67 R/T... Back to Life

I've been a bit lazy posting progress but I did get a lot done. Front and rear glass is in and side glass. I think the quarter windows and I agreed to disagree. These things are a huge pain in the *** to align. I thought by leaving the regulators in the car it would make this go that much better but to my surprise it did not.

Also all weatherstrip is in. These were metro for the doors and roof rail. Door fuzzies are from Legendary and were not branded. I had some minor adjustments to a couple clips that did no line up. I was shocked at how stiff everything was, slamming doors, pushing the window gasket into place, struggling to roll up and down windows. Crazy. I pushed the car out in the hot sun the other day with everything rolled up and closed. Now everything is starting to relax and things are working as intended.

I also got the interior all installed. I still need to paint the the steering wheel and the lower cover on the dash. The console chrome needs some love too, or replacement I should say. When I detailed all the console parts I was ready to accept the chrome was too pitted but it looks like I gotta drop some more $$$ on console plates.

Next up is the front and rear along with wheel trim and rocker molding. I think next I'm going to get the brakes filled with fluid and bleed them. Then, get all the underhood wiring done and maybe get this thing started for the first time since 1980 something.

Looking real nice, it's amazing what a little polish will do!

Just kidding. I know what I'm looking at and what's involved to come this far. Hopefully we'll hit the same car show one day!

Yep! I'm sure we will. I'll be at Carlisle with it for sure. Debut is probably the York Street Rod meet in June.

Might be a big weekend. I have the radiator prepped for paint and I hope to paint it on Saturday. Once that's done get it installed and see if the engine will come to life after 35 years of not running.

Thought I would post the paint I used for the dash that simulates the suede finish. This was mixed at BAPS in York, Pa. it's PPG Shopline base coat.

Next up, tail panel. It's done! This was a complete PIA. I thought I had an issue with the chrome shop with this one but I didn't. Basically the one corner fit like crap and totally unacceptable. Turns out I was able to finesse (aka grind) some of the back side areas, they had too much build up from the chrome process with triple plating. But it's on for the last time and it fits better than it did when I got it.

Detail paint is PPG trim black out of their aerosol and the silver is the smooth argent custom formula from BAPS. Red in the R/T is One Shot sign paint that is reduced and that allows it to flow into the letters. Lots af time and masking when detail this stuff.

Yes it is. There's not a lot that tested it on this car but I was bummed out when I put the tail panel on for the first time for sure. Maybe it's more perseverance than patience.

That company you used to restore your finish panel did very nice job.
The chrome was done by LiBrandi's. It comes back from them with zero paint. All detail painting was done here by your truely. Lots of masking. I don't have a before picture handy but here's an emblem with just the black done.

Yeah man done all that to mine also grill, front surrounds, headlight doors, trunk finish panel. Emblems, console, alot of detail paint work on those 67 cars. Going to check out that LiBrandi's on my finish panel. They look incredibly expensive when done up correctly. Thanks for your information and good luck on you car. Old dodge mechanic who worked on those cars new told us, don't let anyone fool you those 67 440 were the fastest, he said closed chamber heads and afb carbs were not developed for pollution control like the 68 up were. Who knows but interesting story. Great car man!

Cool thanks even did your door badges, i had all the chrome around top of interior and valve covers done to.
