Daytona ****

So, what exactly are you building? stock car?

So, what exactly are you building? stock car?
The car is a 70 Charger R /T body on a circa 2005 Loughlin Nascar chassis, with a Dayclona areo body kit. I am not trying to build a replica of an original Daytona racecar. Unlike the 88 Daytona you are reconstructing, this car is not a piece of history, but more of a modern interpretation of a Daytona race car. What I am hoping to build is a full blown stock car that I can drive on the street. From what I have been told, the chassis was built by a Nascar fabricator from North Carolina. The driveline will be a 472 Hemi with a 5 speed TKO transmission, and a full floating 9 inch rear axle. There is a build thread on here about the car. How is the 88 coming along.?

So many details to get the 88 back right, since it was rebodied in 1973 with a new (73) Charger body. Trying to get it back to 3-24-70. Making a lot of progress and correcting some earlier mistakes.
Sounds like you have a nice project going.
If you know anyone wanting a real 1969 race Daytona, let me know: thinking of selling the Gary Bettenhausen USAC Daytona to finish the 88.

I know that the wingcar world is anxious to see the real 88 Daytona that is the actual car that broke the 200 mph barrier. Especially after being duped with the low speed test car repainted as the original 88 car for decades in the museum. I am sure the Bettenhausen USAC Daytona will find a new home, if you are sure that you want to let it go. I will pass the word along that you are possibly considering letting it go.

That is for sure the best **** I have ever watched. Thanks for all of the pictures guys. Some of us still like to fantasy about owning a Daytona someday. I have a few pictures saved.
