Time to hit the Track.

Thats some amazing air. I’m your biggest fan Mike!! Get-er-done! Big changes in your quest for a NPB. Good luck.
There has been adjusted altitude as low as 100' at Famoso at some of my races
(Bakersfield).
The physical altitude of Famoso is 675' above sea level...but the combined forces of barometric pressure, temperature in the low 60's, etc allow the adjusted altitude to be really really low. At one race last year, the first week in March, the adjusted altitude was negative -100'...like racing in a mineshaft.
The cars really fly when the air gets down to 700' or less....and it will be that at the NHRA CALIFORNIA HOT ROD REUNION RACE this coming Oct 19, 20,21...and I am pre-entered...this is where, hopefully I can get my 9 second time slip.

good luck, sounds like your dialed in and ready to put your 9 mark up on the wall. just hold on and let it rip.

This is a good thread....... I enjoyed seeing the evolution of the car and all the stuff that was tried....... some of it worked, some of it didn’t.
Good read!!

Thanks PRHeads. It's been fun and a FBBO group effort all the way.

Nice to see you over here. Look forward to Malex bringing those heads you did for me. Christmas in September. :D

I'll swap you the heads for a barrel of 112 Wooks.

malex do you ever figure out what caused the perches to give up. was it because they were not beefed up or does pinion angle have anything to do with it. i'm just wondering

Bearman I did not have them boxed. By that I mean reinforced. A combination of good power and hitting them hard. They pounded down on the back side and ended up with an arch to them, moreso on the right side. The new ones are now boxed on the back side.

Don't know when they started reinforcing perches. Saw that in 1970/71.

Fran, I have my Camaro perches boxed, have been for 20 years. I know now that it's not an old wives tale to box them. Live and learn.

Loaded up and ready to pull out first thing tomorrow morning by 5:15AM. A mixed bag of crappy weather ahead though with up to a 90% chance of rain on Sunday, depending on which weather report you read. Saturday, not so bad, predicting 80F. Feeling like 85F.
Got the 29X12 Hoosiers on, slight jetting change again and that's about it. Won't even bother trying to turn up the launch RPM's this weekend, staying at 3,000, hoping to hook and go fast as possible. Wookie will be happy though, I'm bringing some fancy Indy Heads to the track for him tomorrow! Hope I can bring back a NPB to team FBBO.

Trailer staging.

Sure would be nice to knock that 10 down a notch!

Never did find a set of Super Tricks for the rear. Next year it will be either Torque Thrusts or Super Tricks all the way around.

Thanks 67!
Best of luck!

Thanks Glenwood!

Yes it's last chance for old Gold to improve upon itself with split mono's and cal tracs. There's a new program going in under the rear after the weekend for next year. Unless of course there's a rain out and a make up day gets scheduled.

The new program:

Good Luck....just to remind you, I launch off the transbrake at 3600 and my car hooks fine at that rpm....consistant 1.40 60'.
1On the 15 16 of this month I will be trying out my new lighter car (180 lbs out since I went 10.15, but that was in 1000 ft adj altitude. Hope to go 10.15 or so this coming race when air is around 2500 to 3000. I will report in.
