Another stupid wax thread...

Get yourself a bottle of Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover. Get the tan colored bottle from your local parts or paint supplier, not the red bottle from Walmart.

Apply by hand or machine. It's a very mild compound that will remove oxidation and bring back the shine.

Then use the Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. The Cleaner Wax is a thin coating that will last about a year without the buildup that you get from all the other heavy waxes. If you've ever owned a white vehicle, you would see what the heavy waxes do. They hold dirt and grime and distort the color and depth of the finish. Each time you apply the Meguiar's Cleaner wax, you'll watch it remove the dirt and it leaves behind a thin layer of wax protection.

Ok, I finally got it outside in the sun. 1st thing, I must have done something right because while taking her down the road I was actually getting some road reflection out of it. 2nd my dad (who was keeper of the car for the last 30 years) said he couldn’t get anything out of the hood and when he saw my work yesterday said “wow, I wasn’t able to ever get it to look like that. That’s more than I got out of it since we bought it”. It’s a little hazy but improved. Some parts are almost reflective while some are still on the dull side. I am chalking that up to me doing it by hand and getting inconsistent application. Maybe I was taking to large of a section and not working it in like I should as well. I will attach an outside pic below

Looks good to me!

Does the car have factory bumper guards on the rear?

And here is a picture of the hood again. Sorry, I am just excited I got some shine out of it. I can actually see some of he building at work in it.

I need to get a service manual myself. I have one for the 69 but not the 67 yet. You would think the front and rear would be symmetrical but they don’t look that way (at least without measuring the spacing)
