I have a 71 Satelitte,my question is will a 15x8 with 5 inch back space fit my rear with no rubbing, there is a set of center lines for sale some 2 hours away from me .

Only way to know for certain is to measure what backspace you have now and then compare to the 15x8's you are looking at.

Mines a 69 so I don't know how comparable they are but an 8" wide rim with 5" of backspacing would look silly on it I think... it would have the tire sucked into the wheel well fairly deep. We really need a sticky on checking backspacing because it comes up often and is so simple to check. Lay a straight edge against the drum/rotor then measure in to where you want the rim to sit and that's the backspacing.

I say silly looking because on mine the tub is 14" wide with the axle flanges sitting perfectly centered (7" in and 7"out) so an 8 rim with 5" of backspacing means I'd have 4" of unused tub on the outside (really more like 3" once you figure in the lip and tire) 3" is a lot. This is based off of my setup so you'll have to check yours to be sure but they most certainly should fit just might not fit the way you like.

Are you looking at cl autodrags or some other style? Autodrags came as 3 1/2 bs or 4 7/8 bs.
I used 4 7/8 with 10.5×28 slicks on both a 69 runner and 62 savoy. They fit easy on the runner, required a thin spacer on both sides on the 62.
I think either bs will work on your 71, but a 71 has a huge wheelwell, the 3 1/2 might fill it better. I however, like the wheel offset to the inside, it gives the opportunity to use spacers to get the wheel exactly where you want it. Without the wheel in exactly the right place, I could not get 10 1/2 slicks on the 62.

Okay, smaller than my slicks, which fit easily in a smaller wheelwell than yours. They should fit easily on your car, and that is the right size for that wheel imo.

33 imp thanks for the help,if i have to go new what about very close in looks the american raceing ar61 outlaw 1 15x8 -19 offset 3.75 bs will the work. thanks what does the - 19 mean.

wow so much to go by,what to do.
That's gonna push you toward the leafs. Pull a rear wheel off and hang a straightedge down from the wheel mounting surface of the drum (or disc), measure from that surface straight over to the leaf spring, to see how much room there is for that backspace. If that's ok, hold the straightedge upward and measure to the inner wheel well.

^^This^^ and don't forget to add the bulge of the tire to the rim. Ask me how I know:rolleyes:

The -19 is the offset, which is another way of measuring backspace... That's telling you the mounting surface of the rim is 19mm from the centerline of the wheel, towards the inner edge(+ offset would mean it's moved toward the outside of the rim). Roughly 3/4", but that would equal a 3.25" backspace on an 8" wheel

I hear ya...I've never had a '71 or later B-body so I'm just not sure exactly how things fit in there, compared to my '68. A half inch one way or the other could mean the difference between being OK or scraping your tires. That said, typically 8" rims fit fine in these fenders with around 4" of backspacing, with the bulge of the tire figured in...But yeah, the only way to be 100% sure before dropping the cash is to figure out your overall tire width w/ sidewall bulge, and then measure. Someone else's '71 may even be a little different than yours..Good ol' Mopars. ....old-school manual assembly lines and lots of :fool: at lunch goin' on in those days!
