426 Hemi Blocks are back!!!

For those of you who want to build a real Hemi and and not play around with Gen III, tinker toy so called Hemis. Mopar has finally re released Gen II Blocks. Jegs have them available right now theirs a 2 to 3 week lead time.
 
What can one of these blocks handle HP wise?

And can someone school me on why the gen 3 hemi isn’t a real hemi?

Thats great to hear but Hopefully the picture isn't true to what there going to look like kinda reminds of the old mega blocks which leaves you out in the cold if your looking for the more original correct restoration look.

Overbore of 0.320"???????? And still have adequate wall thickness?????? That's got to be a typo. Here's the info from the web site.



Mopar Performance's 426 Hemi Block features a 10.275 in. deck height, 4.240 in. bore, and a standard 4.800 in. bore spacing. With a maximum stroke clearance of 4.500 in. out of the box and a maximum bore of 4.560 in., you can take the Mopar Performance 426 Hemi Block all the way up to 588 cubic inches.

Mopar Performance's 426 Hemi Block crankcase will accept an up to 0.250 in. more stroke with additional machining, allowing up to 620 cubic inches. That's over 10 liters of displacement!

Features:

  • 10.275 in. Deck Height
  • 4.240 in. Bore (up to 4.560 in. with additional machining)
  • 4.500 in. Maximum Stroke (up to 4.750 in. with additional machining)
  • Up to 10.2L of Displacement

The hemispherical head design was revived in 1964. These were the first engines officially designated Hemi, a name Chrysler had trademarked. Chrysler Hemi engines of this generation displaced 426 cu in (7.0 L). Just 11,000 Hemi engines were ultimately produced for consumer sale due to their relatively high cost and the sheer size of the engine bay required to fit it in. The 426 Hemi was nicknamed the "elephant engine"[13] at the time, a reference to its high power, heavy weight and large physical dimensions. Its 10.72 in (272.3 mm) deck height and 4.80 in (121.9 mm) bore spacing made it the biggest engine in racing at the time.

Gen III hemis as called do not have hemispherical Combustion chambers. They have modified wedge chambers similar to a polysperical chamber. The Gen II head is a true halpf of a sphere. If you look at the Gen II it has squish chambers like a wedge head to help with emissions. The true Hemi is capable of unbelievable power like no other motor ever developed because of the chamber and short runner lengths. I am not looking to bad mouth the new motor since it is far better than anything out their that is new. With correct Heads this motor will be amazing.

Not to be a heretic but cam and valve spring improvements have taken much of Hemi's advantage in normally aspirated engines. MO. PS I own gen2 hemis.

Sorry fran not sure what your saying
What I'm saying is the engine design doesn't have the advantage that it had in the 60's and early 70's. Cam and valve spring improvements negated some of advantages.
 
I am not sure i agree, since i am running the Jessel Rocker system with a street roller. What other engine has the same short intake and exhaust runners? You could say the cost of building a Hemi is crazy at 30,000.00 for a basic engine/
