$500- 68 charger

Got started putting on the rear headliner holder plates, and sail panel boards. Then ran out of the clip doodads that hold on them on before I got the other side on. Now I gotta order some more, and wait on them. I tried to reuse some old ones but that didn't work.

How did you attach your sail panel boards? I got new ones for mine and noticed that the old panels were held on by a brad. I thought that I would remove the old brad and figure out some other way to attach it.
 
Yeah, mine had brads also. I you haven't removed them yet, I used some small vise-grip pliers, pulled and unscrewed them out without much trouble. Then decided to try a small leftover/old trim screw, went in and snugged perfect. I had to trim some off of my sail panel boards to get them to fit. You might want to try to steam them to put a curl in them, I just tried to bend this first one I put in by hand and it didn't seem to want to stay bent/curled. Thinking I'll try steam on the other side while bending, tonight.

While waiting on the headliner clips I decided to work on the upper rear panel pads. I cut a small excess piece of the vinyl off the back of one of the new door panels, took it to walmart's fabric section, matched it pretty close to the same material, spray glued some padding on the panels then covered them with the vinyl. A new set cost about $400 so I think these will do fine.

Dang that was fast! Got the headliner rear bracket X clips already, along with some more side clips and a cheapy fm radio., It was $28 on ebay, lol., I'll be surprised if it works.

Finally got started on installing the headliner. Had a lota other stuff going on lately and not much time to "relax" and work on the car. Like in one of the videos, I started by laying the liner out and cutting the slits for the bows to go into the tubes and stick out about 1.5'' on each side. I put all the big bows in the liner but left out the two little sail panel ones for later. I then gently/neatly folded the liner and bows up, got in the car with it, started with the front and worked my way to the back. After the first three I figured where to cut the hole for the dome wire, pulled it thru, then attached the last three bows. Then I pulled the front slightly, temporarily clamped it then did the same to the back. I went around and made sure everything was where it needed to be at this point, then figured where to cut the slits for the two small bows. The small bows were tricky but not to hard, but I noticed that you need to make sure they pop all the way into their holes where they attach as far as they can go, and not move with a good tug test. I then cut some of the excess liner off and called it a night. I'll start glueing, stretching and attaching clips next time I can get time to work on it more.

I did not, thnx charlie. I haven't heard anyone ever say anything about that., But I was wondering about something like that. I did here where some other cars have some type of wires/springs on the side in the back. Made me wonder about the chargers. I don't remember ever seeing that when I took that area apart, but there was a lot of things missing on mine. I'll have to fab something up to replace it. I think I can get it in there pretty easy since everything is still loose.
 
Thanks for the details about hanging your headliner. I am collecting all the tips I can so that I can hang mine. I think that I still have my bow clip wires. I will make sure I find them.
It's looking good so far.

They go above the rear window into small cutouts, one on either side. The loop end goes around the rear most bow. When I did my headliner I started in back and attached the two wires then stretched forward. Kept the bows from falling over.
 
Thnx anyway 3wood but I made some and installed them already. I'm hoping to finish the liner job tomorrow. I think I have everything ready to start stretching, clamping, and glueing.
 
I've got it most of the way finished. I just have to attach the back and sail panel areas, which is going to be the most fun.

Here is a tip, I painted white marks on the top of the front lip to help locate the 6 holes for the front clip/brackets. 20180922_173342.jpg 20180922_173522.jpg
And here's another tip, Isopropyl alcohol will get glue off of the liner incase you get some where it doesn't need to be.

I got the liner done but there are still some small wrinkles in the back. Hoping to get them out with my heat gun. Some tips- Start with a little glue when needed and add more after you have to pull it loose a time or two. And try to get it pulled tight on to the teeth in the rear the first time because after you pull it on and off the teeth a couple of times it will start tearing when you pull. And here also is a pic of a stick I made with blunt rounded ends to tuck the edges in without cutting/tearing the liner, the glue and brush I used, and some two sided carpet tape. I didn't use any spray glue, brushing was easier and safer as far as getting glue where you don't want it.
